We have way too many teachers to be able to buy anything for. I have 3 kids in elementary school (2 or more teachers each), 2 in daycare (not even sure how many teachers there are!) and 1 in preschool (2 teachers and a bus driver) and 1 in high school (don't know who she wants to give gifts to!) So, I was thinking about making Kellynkay's peanut clusters and fudge and wrapping them in pretty colored celephane for everyone. Does that sound like a good idea? Would you guys like that gift?

Sounds yummy. I also received the 2 recipes the other day and was going to make these as some teacher gifts

No-Cook Mint Patties
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter or margarine softened
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 drops green food colring
2 drops red food coloring

In a small mixer bowl combine the light corn syrup, butter or
margarine and peppermint extract beat until well blended.
Gradually add 2 cups of the powdered sugar, beating well. Stir in
as much of the remaining powdered sugar as you can mix with a
spoon. Turn out onto a surface lightly coated with a little
powdered sugar. Knead in enough of the remaining powdered sugar to
make a stiff dough.
Divide the dough into thirds. Using one third knead in red food
coloring. Knead in the green food coloring in the second and leave
the third one white. Shape the dough into 3/4 inch balls place 2"
apart on baking sheets lined with wax paper. Press with the tines
of a fork. If necessary dip the fork in powdered sugar to prevent
sticking.Let air dry several hours.
The only thing my daughter warned of it is very sticky but it is
workable

Cream Cheese Mints
6 oz. cream cheese
3/4 lb. powdered sugar
1 tsp. mint to flavor or to taste
Food coloring

Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, flavoring and food coloring and mix with hand mixer until stiff. Roll into small balls. Dip in sugar, then press in to sugared mint molds to make shaped mints. you can use also divide this and tint with food coloring. I usually make red, green, yellow, and white

I love candy so it would be good but here are a couple of other ideas that are also cost effective for you and easier to do.

At Michaels or the dollar store you could get each teacher some thank you cards with envelopes and a pad of writting paper. Teachers never seem to have enough cute paper to write thank you's on.

For the little one for their teachers you can place some hersey hugs and kisses in a zip lock bag and put a tag on them that say "Hugs and Kisses from ??" My 4 year old ds is doing this for his Sunday School teachers and My 6 year old dd is doing this for her teachers. Watch your paper Wal-green's sometimes does them for $2.00 a bag and you can make several little snack baggies out of them.

For my kiddos I am going to make homemade goodies for the teachers. Last year I made chex mix, chocolate bark and candied nuts. No candied nuts this year ... too much of a pain and too much money.

I have gotten a lot of compliments on the chex mix. So I will make that, some candy (molded and fudge or truffles). I wrap the chex mix in cellophane bags with a ribbon then type out Chex mix cut with fancy scissors glue on card stock and cut again. Looks really pretty and is cheap. The candy I will put in small boxes and wrap with ribbon.

I just purchased plain colored gift bags at Michael's last week for 25 cents each so it will go in there with some tissue paper and a note from me.

I think homemade gifts are the best.

I think it's a great idea. I usually make up a little bag of goodies for each member of my worship team. Last year I made cookie bark for them, they all loved it. I did some with regular chocolate and some with white chocolate. I can't remembe the recipe right now but you just need chocolate and an Oreo type cookie. It's very yummy !

not trying to burst anyone's bubble( the recipie sounds YUMMY) but my sis is a teacher and she has a personal policy that she doesn not consume anything home-made. In the trash it goes. ( not in front of the child) . She just can't take chances you know- not everyone has a clean kitchen- some people have birds, don't have good hgiene or allow thier cats to walk on counters. Of course I'm not saying YOU are like that, but if the teacher has never been to your home, then she has no idea.

I wouldn't give anything consumable. Maybe a packaged item of candy or something popcorn perhaps? I feel safe with gift cards. Starbucks, ice cream, ect.

When I was a teacher I would have loved a special treat like that ANother option is to order some cheap books under $2 from the book orders and give them to the classroom as a gift.

Heehee ~ if you do make them just know they make a TON - like 60-75 little candies (if you use the mini-papercups). They are sooo yummy though

my mom is a teacher and i know our family would have LOVED you!!!!
My poor mother got so many silly things for christmas from her students!!! oh my I can't even begin the list! But yes I think that would be a GREAT gift for a teacher, beats the pants off getting your 1002nd coffee mug...when you don't drink coffee. Good luck with all your homemade goodies...you can send some my way too if you want!

As a teacher (not practicing anymore to stay at home w/ds) I can tell you that I LOVED getting goodies! You can't believe so of the gifts that I got. People feel they have to buy the teacher something, but have no idea her personality, likes, etc. I personally would much rather get something consumable rather than more stuff to "junk" up the place.

Your idea is GREAT!! I am SURE the teachers will enjoy the goodies.

Whoever posted the kisses idea.....WAY CUTE....I'll be doing that for some people this year! THANKS
