I was thinking the same thing!! The cranberry sauce was almost a dollar a can, flour was still over $1/bag, and sugar was only like $1.50, and that was for a 4lb bag, not a 5lb bag. I didn't really stockpile anything this year. Plus my dh's section at work is taking up some items for a family that needs help, it was all I could do to purchase a few extra things for him to take them.

Same around here too! Western NC. I went to our chain grocery store, Ingles, and some things had went up as much as $.50!! Needless to say, I have been going to Aldi's ever since! They are saying the gas prices are effecting the prices around here. I spoke with the cashier at Aldi's and she said it seems like they can't keep things stocked....more people coming in now than when they opened. I guess everyone is feeling the pinch!!

My DH works at a grocery store and they have raised their price three times in the last four months. Between the gas prices and last winter when the southern/western states got hit with all the frost/ice, expect the prices to go up more in the nest few months.

My DH said they raised their egg price to $1.99 for a dozen, that is hard to believe. Their milk went up this week to $3.59 a gallon. But people are still buying. My feeling is they have to buy or go without. It is getting harder to feed your family.

I heard a couple of girl talk last week that they felt that they could go out to eat for less then cooking at home. I can not believe that. I feel that I can still feed my family for cheaper then going out. My food bill for the week is about $60.00, but I don't buy meat at the store, we get a hind quarter once a year, so that help alot and I do cook alot of things from strach.

The girls hear and I were just talking about the lack of deals today. I was so excited yesterday thinking this week would be the mother of all sales only find nothing. The coupons were crappy in the Sunday paper, and none of the stores have any good deals going. I do A LOT of baking this time of the year and really was hoping I could stock up on some great deals to keep my budget low-doesn't look like that is going to be the case this year.

The only thing that I have really seen an increase in is milk!! Its 3.77 a gallon and Since that is probably the only thing I buy Religiously - I see that I am Spending over 10.00 a week on 3 or 4 gallons.

Otherwise , I am not an avid coupon user or stockpiler.

I always have bought store brand or sale brand as my way to save- So I guess Its not going to change too much for me too fast.

I did notice that in past weeks the CVS Deals weren't all that great-
That is the one store I shop and Strictly look to save.

I have noticed it too. I have been waiting for flour to drop below $1 for a 5 lb. bag and it hasn't. Last year, I was able to get it for 79 cents. Doesn't seem to be happening this year. I am still able to find milk below $3 a gallon, but not by much. I miss the days of $1.69 a gallon milk.

And eggs! What is up with eggs? I can not believe the price of eggs. I haven't seen them below $1 a dozen in ages. I miss those prices. No wonder my grocery bill used to be so much lower.

The only thing that I have been able to find good prices on were baking goods. I can usually get a 10 lb of potatoes pretty cheap. But everything else is ridiculous! Eggs use to be so cheap! Of course now that they are expensive, my boys want eggs for breakfast all the time! Milk at my safeways is 2 for $5.75. which is cheaper than Walmart. I have not been able to find hamburger for less than $2 per lb for months! It is getting harder and harder to feed a family a decent healthy meal.

I usually do all my shopping at Walmart, but here lately (about 6 months), I have been doing better at the local grocery store. It has been having good prices on various items. Canned pumpkin.... 69cents a can, evaporated milk -99cents, flour - 79cents, 10lb bag of sugar-$3.48, brown sugar - 99cents, powdered sugar - 99cents, choc chips - 10 for $10. I have been stocking up there. They also had the Arm & Hammer laundry soap 4-$10, which was really good because I usually pay $3.48 at Walmart for 1 container. But, as all of you have already said, milk, eggs, and bread are outrageous.

My store said the produce is up because of Califorina and the rest of the country to much rain and then not enough syndrome. I don't know what to think.

For the pumpkin I bought two of them after Halloween and cut them and roasted them and froze them in 2cup baggies. Last year I got pumpkins for .50 each and this year I had to pay 1.99 each. I get 9 maybe 10 of the baggies so it is worth it but the price is much higher than last year.

And what is the problem with the eggs, and milk? I can't believe how much they are now.

I, too, keep waiting for good sales so I can do some holiday baking and also rebuild my stockpile. My regular grocery store has a big baking display where everything is on sale, but the prices are nowhere near what I consider to be a good deal.
