This is the time of year when i stockpile my stuff like cranberries, canned pumpkin, stuff like that. And there are no deals out there!!!!! I have checked the ads of every store in my area and gone into the stores this week, and NOTHING! Usually I can get cans of pumpkin like 2/$1, this year no way! I even set aside extra money for this week to stock up a bit.

Even the advertised specials were not that great at all. Are you guys finding the same thing? I am in South FL. I am frugal shopper and my food bill is really going up, I rely on stockpiles so this stinks for me!

We already are a pasta, rice, and beans family, if things keep up this way, we'll have to be the ramen noodle family again

I don't really stockpile during this time of year- I did notice that things like flour and sugar were on"sale" but I usually only buy flour this time of year ( it keeps in the fridge all year long) so I don't know what a good price is for these things! my bag of flour was 1.79. not sure if that is good or not? Our canned pumpkin was 1.00- but it seemed like most of the loss leaders were for soda, crackers, cookies, snack sorts of things. the pre-made party trays of veggies and cheese were outrageously expensive- like 10.00 for the tray of cubed cheese.
I also noticed that the deals on turkeys weren't as good as they used to be - almost everywhere it was .98 cents a pound- but one place had one brand for. 49 cents a pound. I'm a lettle leary about buying meat at a cheap priice- when no other store is offering the same thing. I finally settled on .79 a lb for turkey but thought that was more that I was used to paying.

There are some deals but they're not that good. Canned pumpkin here was $1.38 on sale! I don't remember what it was last year but it wasn't that expensive.

I am finding the same thing! And let me tell you, it STINKS. We moved over the Summer and we are now 10 minutes from where DH works instead of 35 min. and I maybe go to my folks house once every 2 weeks (they are almost 40 min. away) and we have saved between $80 and 100 a month. BUT I've had to plow it into my food budget, so I really haven't gotten ahead I read somewhere that food costs have risen almost 30% in the past 6 months and I am feeling it. Meat has been up there for a while, but the big thing is staple items like milk, eggs, juice, bread (I've started making my own) and pasta. If food continues on this path, I will have to do some serious prioritizing and cut somethings that might hurt

no great sales here really. there was a few good pop sales but we don't drink pop...everthing that is on sale is what it regularly runs on sale so its not big savings this year at all.

I was thinking the exact same thing today! Over the last few weeks, I've noticed that the grocery sales have been slim pickin's.

No good deals here either. The best price I found for pumpkin was .69 per can at Aldi's. That is their regular price. I also cannot believe how expensive groceries are getting. After coming home from shopping the other day, I told my husband how I don't know how people can afford to NOT shop the sales.

I got a good deal on flour and I bought an extra turkey for 29 cents a pound but that's about it.

I wasn't really impressed with the sales this year either.

My grocery bill seems to be growing too. It makes me wonder when prices will stop going up so we can finally seem some relief. This is ridiculous.

Mined has been fairly good. The only thing I have found to be overpriced is potatoes.

A few weeks back they had them on sale $1 for 10 pound bag of organic potatoes, but I didn't buy them as I didn't need anything else from the store... my loss as the cheapest I can find them now are $2.50 for that same 10 pound bag.

Canned pumpkin - I have no idea what the price is here as I have never looked or purchased the stuff.

Turkey was .38 a pound - Honeysuckle Brand - I then had a coupon for $2 off, so not certain what the end price really was per pound. Purcahsed this on Saturday.

Flour & sugar were on "sale" this past week - but the price wasn't a sale price to me... something like $1.50 for a 5 pound bag of flour - but I bought it a few weeks back when it was $1 a bag and had a coupon again that knocked it even lower.

Seems like the grocery stores know that people are going to be doing major shopping right now, so there is no need to mark things down.... however a few weeks back is when I bought most of my holiday staples and thew prices did seem to be much cheaper.

Well I just talked myself in a circle, so I guess that the sales are in fact less this year for this particular week.
