Not sure if this is the right place to put this question but I thought i would try. I have a fifteen month old baby girl. I am currently keeping all of her clothes for other children that i might have because she is my first and i plan on having 2 or 3 more. I pick up most of her clothes at yard sales during the summer( all of her winter wardrobe for about 35.oo) or resale shop. I would like other moms opinion on whether i would make more money now if i sell these clothes at a resell shop or save more money later by keeping them. I just starting staying at home with my little one in July so i am always looking for ways to make money or save. I was not sure if anyone had any experience with doing both or an idea which would really be best.
Thanks for all your input.

It has been my experience that clothing 12 months and up resells OK, so I would hold onto the smaller sizes or maybe your favorite pieces.

Being personally I'd get them vac. sealed in bags, label the sizes and keep em! We had two children and I got rid of everything because I was sure we were done. BIGGEST mistake!! Because we are hoping to TTC #3 in the coming months. So I suggest keeping them. I either gave the baby stuff away to families in need or sold the nicer stuff..like my gymboree sets and I regret it. If you don't have to hassle with selling, shipping ect..I wouldn't AND you won't have to run out and buy more stuff cuz you sold stuff.

HTH!

I sold Emily at a consignment sale (I had a hysterectomy due to medical issues so she is my only). The smaller stuff doesn't sell well at all. I cut my favorites into squares to make her a blanket.

I would save the, basics like onsies, sleep & plays, jeans & jackets. Sell the items that might go out of style. I always try to buy classic designs that will stay in style so I can sell them when I am ready. I buy more trendy items on resale and then sell them the next season. I have a girl & a boy, so I also try to buy some unisex type things so that they can both wear them. Soon I will be able to start passing down sneakers, so I am going to start going for more unisex colors in them! HTH.

There is something in my area called Just Between Friends. YOu can go to their website and see if there is one in your area. I have consigned with them this next sale will be my 8th time (or so) and my smallest check has been $300. You clean the items, tag them, and price them yourself. Remember not to be greedy or you will be picking up alot of stuff after the sale. The last three times I have only picked up a few things or you can donate them to a charity.

Check them out I recomend them much more than I do a resale shop. You make 70% at this one.

On the JBF website they will tell you how much to expect to sell! Many of the younger sizes I think they say don't expect to sell as much cause there's SO much there! (check the site for more info)

I think if you plan on having more you should probably keep the onesies and things that aren't gonna sell much anyway, but also things you love! I've had 3 boys all born within 3 weeks of each other so the sizes/seasons remained the same for all of them! For the most part I kept everything but have been realizing lately that I have some of ds1's clothes that he never wore, and #2 and #3 wore them even less! (if any) So get rid of anything they don't wear - you won't miss them! PLUS, by the time you have 2 and 3 and so on, you'll be wanting them to have a few things of their very own (at least I did)!

Oh, also depends on how soon you plan on having the next ones!! If you plan on having them within 2 or 3 years - keep them! Any longer - maybe you should get rid of more... KWIM??

If you KNOW that you are going to have even one more child, I say KEEP THEM! You can ALWAYS sell them later! I have kept everything for ds.....the only thing I have put in my garage sales have been the few items I was given by someone that I know that I would never put on my child (not my taste at all) My sister has all girls & she's done for sure. She gives me all her kids clothes they out grow to sell in my garage sale (she doesn't want to bother with one) anyway, I keep a lot of her stuff too!! I have plenty of storage space...and I may have a girl one day and want hand me downs for her too!! Like I said earlier, you can ALWAYS sell them later! But once they are sold you can never have those free clothes back! Thats just my opinion tho!
