is there anything you won't buy generic for whatever reason? i'm just asking if anyone else sometimes buys the name brand at regular price (or on sale) even if the generic is cheaper? for example, my dh loves Garnier Fructis. i don't know if there is a generic, but we've never thought to try another.
things like pasta and cereal and the like taste fine generic. but we're kind of picky about pasta sauces and soup. anyone else feel the same way about certain products?

I have to buy Tide, good cheese, good shampoo and conditioner, deoderant and Barilla pasta. Oh and good skin care products.

I don't mind generic. But there are a few things I can not do generic. Mayo has to be miracle whip, nothing else! Toothpaste, can't do generic there, I don't think it works as good. Cheerios. I will get generic cheerios for the kids, but if I am in the mood for them, it has to be the real thing, I think generic tastes stale. I did, not generic but very cheap, suave shampoo/conditioner for about two years. I had to quit that because mine and my girls' hair looked like hay. Very dry and yucky. A hair dresser told me whatever I was using was ruining my hair and my hubby told me to stop using it when he noticed how bad it looked. I am sure there are more, just can't think of it now.

So yes there are some things I can not do generic. But overall I am fine with generic.

I don't think you sound like a snob. There are certain products that you may prefer name brand for whatever reason. We will not buy generic coffee, we drink folger's, maxwell house, or eight o'clock only. And we don't normally buy generic sodas, we get either pepsi or coke, depending on which ones are on sale. I'm not too picky about alot of other stuff, the only other items I can think of are miracle whip, hidden valley ranch dressing( but I get the large jar of seasoning mix at Sam's), and laundry detergent.( I buy All free and clear)

Here are more. Deorderant. I have to use dove. Skin care for all of my life I used Merle Norman, I was allergic to everything else. But now I sell avon and use theirs and do good with it. Name brand but it is cheaper than merle norman. Laundry I use that new tide essentials. But I get a coupon for that out of the paper all the time.

I have to use Certain Dri deodorant and a more expensive conditioner, cheap(er) shampoos are okay, and Tide HE for laundry. For food we only use heinz ketchup, we buy coffee beans and grind them at home, barilla plus pasta, kraft or hellmans mayo, Coke Zero or Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, Nathan's hot dogs or Hebrew National.

*shrug* I don't care of it's snobby or not (although I don't think it is! LOL!), I don't buy any generics or store brand items.

I agree with the others who have said Heinz Ketchup. We won't use any other brand. Other than that, I can't think of anything.
