Hy Vee lost power due to the ice storm, and sold everything in the freezer and refrigerated section at rock bottom prices. Someone got sliced ham for $1.00/lb. Customers in the meat department looked like they won the lottery .

my little brothers said one of the guys that works in his building was there he got meat at .99lb steak hamburger chicken you name it he totally stocked up. he also got 1/2 gallons of ice cream for .50 a piece.. i wish i had been there that would have been a great time to stock up good for the shopper and good for them instead of just throwing it away..

Im in Cali and we have Winco. You have to watch them because their prices are always changing, but usually I do very well there. They have "bulk" bins. not like the ones in regular grocery stores. but tons of them with flour, salt, baking soda, beans, jelly bellys, nuts, candies, chex mix, different rices, etc. even dog treats! I get baking soda for cleaning for like 34 cents a LB! when it is like 50 cents for a tiny box. flour is cheap too. I but plastic containers that I label at home to put it in. the spices are the best buy, they are like (depending on spice) 1.24 a LB! they sell the plastic spice bottles for 40 cents to put them in. it is so awesome. beans are like 60 cents a pound instead of like 1-2 dollars a small bag. Has helped me stretch my budjet immensly!
