No money spent today!! Tomorrow, grocery shopping (but that's okay through this challenge, right?) - enough to get us through one week until DH gets his first paycheck from his new job.

We (like so many families right now) are finding it harder to make ends meet this year. I did spend some money/gift cards I got for Christmas today. I went to the scrapbooking store (yay! I haven't done much scrapbook shopping in the last six months or so; it's nice to have fun stuff to play with!) to take advantage of their year-end, 35% off sale. I also had to exchange some things, but I'm definitely up for a no-spending challenge now. We have a couple of extra financial commitments through New Year's Eve, but then I'm up for no spending unless it's a necessity!

I definitely want to joing this challenge. I really need to watch my spending this year.

The last two days I haven't even left the house except yesterday to return things to the library. So I'm off to a good start!

I keep thinking I need to hit all the after-Christmas sales, but if I'm honest with myself, I don't really need anything. I have plenty of wrapping paper, cards, and decorations to last me the next two years at least! I just want to "get a good deal."

Today we may buy paint to fix up a bathroom, but that is what all of our Christmas money is going toward.

Update: I went grocery shopping last night and came in $20 below my expected total, but I have to get some more lunchmeat for DH's work in a few days, so that will make sure I stay under budget and not go over.

Well, I had to go out to the store last night. We returned a toy that DS got for Christmas that didn't work. Since I didn't have my receipt, we got a gift card with the credit on it. He picked out 2 toys and I got a box of Kleenex we so desperately needed. We still have $2.14 left. I figure I could use that if I need to make an emergency run for something. Then we had to go out to Walmart b/c we ran out of cat food. I had a coupon for $3 off any size bag of some brand. The original cost was $4.24. Then I had a coupon for $1 off any Rayovac batteries so I picked up the $.96 cent pack. My grand total was $1.54. Not too bad. That was the first I have bought ANYthing since last Friday. And I prob won't spend again til next Friday(Except for paying bills) Next week I will be attempting to do our grocery shopping for the whole month.

I had to get Thom a new diaper bag for school and Kelsey needed new undies. So 20.97 at BRU and 12.97 at Walmart for Undies.

I'm keeping an eye on ebay and craigs list for clothes for Thom, Kelsey I jsut have to get her some shirts for the summer, otherwise I'm set.

I'm working the next 4 days at the hospital so I'm taking dinner with me.
S- Red Pepper Brisket, baked potatoe
S - Stuffed Pork Chops
M- Stuffed Shells
T - Roast Beef sandwich with potato salad.

Lot's of potatoes this week since they were .97 a bag.

I'm listing a few things on ebay and craigs list to get out of the house, toys, clothes, my handbags, and a few big baby items, stroller, bedding.

I'm really up for this again. DH just got laid off. He went to work on Thursday and was informed Friday would be his last day. They are still going to pay him for the New Years holiday which include Monday and Tuesday. It makes me mad though, there are two guys with less time in then he has. One has only been there for 6 months or so. Things will be tight since we have to wait three weeks for unemployment. Good thing there is a little in the bank. Hope all had a great Christmas and here is to saving money.

Janice
