What are some of your favorite frugal books?

I got an ebay card for Christmas (the sad thing is I usually only get the girl things off of it!) and was thinking about possibly getting a new frugal book. I have Tightwad Gazette (okay- but a little too drastic for me sometimes!), Miserly Moms (another okay book).

I had a huge long post all tyoped out with tons of suggestions and reasons for those suggestions and IE decieded to close on me, losing my post.

Anyways, the abreviated version.

Check out "like" books from the library before buying another generic "frugal book". Look to Amazon to see what books they recommend in the same genre.

Amazon.com: The Complete Tightwad Gazette: Books: Amy Dacyczyn
Page down a bit to see recommende "like" books.

I would love to make every American read this book
Your money or your life
Amazon.com: Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence: Books: Joe Dominguez,Vicki Robin
Some of the data is dated and I would not follow their investment advice as a general rule, but the book is fantastic

I would also look to other areas you can grow in, aside from reading another recycled "frugal" book.

What about thrifty cooking?
Amazon.com: More-With-Less Cookbook (World Community Cookbook): Books: Doris Janzen Longacre
Fanatasic "staples" cookbook -- honey baked lentils are really good!

What about putting in a garden next summer?
Amazon.com: Square Foot Gardening: A New Way to Garden in Less Space with Less Work: Books: Mel Bartholomew
Learn how to grow a ton of stuff in a little bit of space.

What about sewing or repurposing clothing?
Amazon.com: Sewing for Dummies: Books: Janice Saunders Maresh
and / or
Amazon.com: Rip It!: How to Deconstruct and Reconstruct the Clothes of Your Dreams: Books: Elissa Meyrich

Enjoy your shopping!

I've heard it's more than just a cookbook, but tells how the author dug herself out of debt.

I also like Frugal Living for Dummies, and of course Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover.

Tawra Kellam has her own website. You can purchase books directly from her. I haven't read any of her books but I have found her newsletters useful.

I checked out Miserly Mom books at the public library. I have tried some of the receipes and they are good. She gives lots of tips you can actually use with out having to go extreme.

This is her web site.

I just read The Total Money Makeover and am in the process of reading it aloud to dh (how romantic!

I checked out The Tightwad Gazette from the library, but could not get through even half of it before it was due back (and unrenewable because someone else had put in a request for it). I was taking so many notes from it that I decided it was worth owning, and ordered a used copy from eBay. It's a good reference book. Some suggestions about how to be frugal may seem extreme, but you can pick and choose what might work for you.
