Then he laughed and said that this challenge was addicting. It totally is for us! My hubby came from a house w/ more than enough money to just blow, and he retains a lot of that mind set. Not tha the blows our money, but he'd never think twice about spending money on something like cereal that we need. He just totally turned down cereal and said he'd eat oatmeal until the cereal went on sale! LOL I just totalled up our 6 days purchases and we are holding steady at $19! I can't wait to see if we can go tomorrow w/o spending. It would be awesome to have an entire week and spend less than $20! I feel like for once we are a unified team in our money handling. I know that this is the only way we will ever dig out of our debt - not justifying and enabling eachother.
WTG for your DH and for you!!

I bought My "approved" Fountain soda and postage stamps.
pathetic- but I spent almost 5.00 ( I only bought a Half Book - trying to stay under 5.00 for the day!)

I feel like I'm not doing so well...

I was REALLY craving japanese food today ( I haven't had it in months!!) so I had dh stop and grab some on his way home. It cost $10.32 and it didn't taste good at all.... guess that's what I get for going against the spending freeze, lol.

dh also had to get a haircut. it was $10 but he had to have it cut since he's in the military. it was getting way too long for their standards.

I also had to pay the water bill, $52.05 but that of course was necessary.

I am going to try my hardest to stick with the spending freeze now!!!

I bought a gallon of milk. That's it! I understand about the Chinese food thing. I was really tempted to get that tonight, too. Instead I used up what I had in the pantry.

Ok, so now that we have started....I have to spend less than $375 this month on everything unrelated to bills and stuff because that is my "husband's account." He worries about that stuff. But bills, gas, medical co-pays..those are all "must-haves" and we work hard at cutting back on those anyways by routing our errands so that we are driving less...plus turning off our lights and getting the Energy Efficient light bulbs.

But our huge focus is on the impulse buying! So $375 for the rest of Jan...(since my grocery shopping for the 1st half is done already)...and that's it! Every dollar is plugged into a category for something and If I run out...too bad!! Unless it's a medical emergency...then we are going without! Let the games begin!

Today I fell off the wagon a little. I took the kids to the dollar theatre to see a movie I promised them. They are still on break and they needed to go. Ok I needed them to get out of the house. LOL. I only spent 6.50 on the tickets for the 4 of us and $4.00 on a coke. So all and all it wasn't a bad day.

Dinner could have been out but it was left overs. I am so glad that I had already cooked something otherwise who knows.

I haven't spent anything though my husband bought something off of eBay for $10.00. Actually he's looking at eBay right as I speak making jokes about me hating eBay.

But I did get a check in the mail today for my kids from my father. He said buy what I need. I'm thinking that a new chest of drawers is in store but waiting till the spending freeze is off may kill me!

By the way, I'm not really mad at my husband!

I did not spend a dime all day until I went to Kohl's this evening to return a few Christmas gifts that did not fit. I didn't have receipts for them so I was able to get a store credit.

Well, I needed to buy my son a suit and dress shirt for an affair we need to attend in February, so buying these items was an approved expense. What a deal I got! I bought him a Chaps black pinstripped suit regularly $90 for $9 and a dress shirt for 5.00. I couldn't believe it. I think this is the best bargain I ever got. The gift card more than took care of the cost.

Tomorrow I just need to go to Aldi's to get some frozen vegetables and I'm pretty set for the next three weeks except for food staples.

Well, I knew I would be spending a bit today as it was my birthday. We took the car in for its maintenance and, of course, it had a leak in it. So, $500 on that, but I had a coupon and it was expected, though it was hard to stomach! Then, we went to the mall to buy my Dad a present. I spent $26 on a present for my Dad ($9) and a sweater and shirt for my dh's birthday ($10 and $7). Then we went to Target and dh got sunglasses (a definite necessity) and a present for a birthday that I did not have an approrpriate present in my stash. $12 there. Then we went to lunch (sorry, it was my birthday!) but the kids were free. Then to the movies. Again my birthday. Then to Sam's for MUCH needed groceries, but that will last us awhile. $75.

So, while I spent some extras, I was VERY proud of myself of not getting any of the good clearance stuff at the mall or Target so I consider that a MAJOR victory!

Tomorrow I have to register ds for t-ball. We have been promising him for a year now so I can't renig. Other than that, I will be taking BACK some dogfood that my dog does not need anymore that the vet has switched his diet yet again. So, I really should end up being credited money tomorrow! lol
