I was going to post this on the car wash thread but didn't want to hijack! I came into my second FTJ dilemma. Our van is a deep burgandy and now it looks terrible with the salt and grime. But our car wash place is $9!! I like it because I do not go into the places that you are not guided in by a human being! I had a really bad experience once and will Never do that again, I have to have someone guide me in!

Anyway, I usually wash my car myself in the early spring/summer/fall/. In the winter I suck it up and pay the $9, usually every 3 weeks or so. But with the FTJ project, I didn't want to shell out the money, it is definitely a Want. BUT, I thought, "I CAN'T show up at ds's school with such a dirty, filthy van!" 2/3 of the vehicles are either Mercedes, Cadillacs, Hummers, or Lexus's, let alone me having a dirty van!! But then I thought "This is Exactly a Jones thing!! Do I care what they think?" But I DO!

So I thought long and hard about it, and was going to dump some hot water on it (our outside water is shut off for the winter) but worried about icing up the driveway and locks. But then I talked to a friend who said Tuesday it's supposed to be 58 degrees, so I am going to bring buckets out and do it on Tuesday!

But when I thought about this like I said it was a Total Jones thing! I wanted to keep up with everyone else that has a great looking vehicle. To me it's a pride thing, it's a reflection on you. So anyway, Tuesday I'll be out with my hot buckets of water!!!

I've always wanted to wash my car in the rain but never had. The salt will ruin your car but if there is a thirftery (SP) way to get off.. with your hot water. GO FOR IT I WOULD.

That's hilarious about the buckets of water. I think I'm going to do it too!! It is going to get above freezing here over the weekend, so my neighbors will just think I'm crazy.

Way to go. I'm glad that you were able to find a way to wash the car. I put periodic washings on our approved list in case we get ice and they salt the roads...but no other reason. That salt is really bad for your car.
