We switched from having all of the channels to broadcast TV through the cable network. It is $17 a month including taxes. It has PBS kids that my kids love to watch. Plus one 24-7 news channel and all the main networks. We missed our extra channels a bit at first, but our savings has definitely been worth it and we've gotten used to living w/o what we had before.

I now have Direct TV, its a LOT cheeper and better picture and channels!

This is only if you haven't fulfilled your commitment. If you actually do want to switch and you have Direct Tv (I have DirectTV but I personally like Dish better but that is only my opinion) call Dish's rentention dept and they will give you credits to make up for the money that DirectTV will charge you if you haven't fulfilled your committment (most are 1 year and it is $12.50 per month - so if you have fulfilled 11 months of your commitment you will only pay $12.50).

Just another suggestion, Dish network came out with a new pack last year sometime. It's called Dish Netowrk Family. It's 19.99 a month and you get some "cable" channels and all the local channels. My Mom gets it because the only one she wants is the Food Channel, but she didn't want to spend $60 a month for just that. The rep told her about the Family pack.

I just had her look on her lineup and Discover kids and a couple of other kids stations. So you might just want to down grade your package and save the $40 per month. Just a suggestion!
