--We found a gym with a cheap membership cost ($25/month) that we love. The cost also includes all the classes I might want to go to. Daycare does cost extra though.
--Take the stairs instead of elevator/escalator whenever possible.
--Many people go to the mall to walk.
--When the weather is nicer I walk the dog.

Anyone else have any tips for frugal exercise?

- find a good exercise dvd
- walking
- biking
- playing soccer or just dancing around with the kids
- jump rope
- I found that running up and down my stairs is a good exercise, I try to do it 8-10 and I'm soooo out of breath after that. It doesn't take much time and helps me get in shape...

I can't think of anything else right now but you really don't need a gym to exercise

The hanky panky
Here is an activity calorie counter. down at the bottom of the page, plug in your weight and the duration of your activity and it brings up a huge chart with tons of different activities and the calories you'd burn by doing it for that amt of time.

I love borrowing exercize dvd's at the library. I get the "walk away the pounds" ones, because they usually do not need any extra equipment, and they are easy to do in my living room. Especially since I am the most uncoordinated person on the planet!

I rotate between 2-3 of them, so my workout varies from week to week.. and for the times when I can't get to the library when they are open I do have one 40min workout from the series at home. I thinking about purchasing one of the new dvds.. but will wait to see if it gets too popular to get when I want it. After all, if I am able to check it out every 3rd or 4th week without an issue, I will likely not even spend any of my own $$.

I am getting a FREE aerobic step from freecycle.....then at night when i am watching my shows i am going to step up and down. It's something and it will keep me from vegging on the sofa.

Instead of buying weights use 2ltr bottles or cans from the kitchen pantry.

I like the "walk away the pounds" videos too, I can make it more challenging by going faster and adding extra force and weight. Plus, I really like to walk and sometimes weather or time constraints keep me from getting out for a long enough one. The videos are a good addition.

I have a recumbant exercise bike we bought off craigslist, I think for $40. I would love to do it during nap time, but the tv is loud so I can hear it over the bike and we have a small house. The walking videos are quieter.

At night when I first sit down to watch tv, I do leg lifts and pilates and yoga stretches for awhile. It feels good to stretch at the end of the day.

1. I love to walk in my neighborhood! If I can get out with no kids I can get a great 30-40 minute walk in!

2. Exercise shows on Fit TV...Gilad is one of my favorites!

3. Using my old tapes!

Love the stair ideas!

Hey, that little calculator is very handy! Thank you for posting that!
