This is a spinoff from the thread about frugal foods you can't stand! What are some frugal food items that you love and save you money?
I love to buy the big box of Bisquick mix at Sam's. Another thing I really like is the Walmart Rip-and-dip cheese product (like velveeta), to make macaroni and cheese with. I also really like Wyler's sugar free pink lemonade.

Aldis boxed Mac and Cheese if you would consider that generic! I also buy generic Lipton Onion soup mix and kool aid never seems to bother the kids. There are a few other things as well.

Since I like to cook and gladly search for new recipes, I am happiest when I find something really tasty that uses frugal food many consider blahhh.

I have some wonderful dishes for dried beans.

And great soups with the leftover beans and leftover veges.

I am in heaven if dinner is nutritious and cheap and still tastes great.

At the grocery store, I eye everything for its nutrition density, as in nutrition per dollar.
Then I get creative with those very frugal items.

I buy cinnamon at the dollar store and we love cinnamon toast for a snack
we also like warm rice with a little milk and cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top
popcorn in my popcorn popper. That bag of kernels goes a long way.

I buy noodles and rice, you can use them in anything from soups to salads.

I like elbow mac. & tomatoes with an onion and cornbread!

I also make rice pudding!

I usually just buy the wal-mart brand.

We love pinto beans and cornbread!! That is comfort food to us.

Fried bologna sandwich with pepper jack. (don't knock this one until you try it)

We also use walmart brand crystal light, the fruit punch taste like it has sugar

Whole wheat noodles any brand will do.

Tomato sauce I usuall use walmart brand

Spices sometimes it takes more but they work

slow cooking oatmeal

walmart brand nutra grain bars, they have more fiber and they taste good

I LOVE beans! I like to make a huge pot of any kind of dried beans (pinto, navy, black eyed peas, etc.) and a skillet of corn bread for dinner. I serve it with an onion cut up and soaked in vinegar and frosty glasses of milk.

I freeze the leftovers or throw them in soup...yum!

DD and I love our beans.

This is so funny...i make homemade baked mac and cheese (not as cheap as it used to be with the rise in cheese prices!) But I can still make 2 pans for about $10...using 8 cups of cheddar...yum!!

Anyhow...I serve it w/ stewed tomatoes and I always buy them in the can. Well I bought the Walmart brand for about 50 cents a can. I opened 2 cans, heated them up and stuck a bowl of stewed tomatoes on the table. My parents were eating w/ us (they know I love to cook and I'm pretty good at it). My dad says, "Wow, these are great stewed tomatoes!" I said, "Yeah...you can thank Walmart for that!" He didn't believe it!
