Grocery stores are running better sale prices?

I have noticed this for the last 3 or 4 weeks. Their regular price items cost more, but their sales have been really good lately. Some prices are better than I have seen in the last two years.

I wonder if it is because sales are down in general and they figure better loss leaders will draw in more customers?

Not here. The sales are the same as they have been. (I buy the same things when they are on sale) You are right though regular items have gone way up.

I noticed this at the local little grocery store (they have poptarts this week for .99 cents- my DH is in heaven!). I was thinking that the big grocery store a few miles down the road is taking away a lot of business (they are one of the grocery stores that offer fuel perks). But every week there is a great sale going on- which is hard since I am in the process of trying to use up our stockpile . But I do have to admit I have enough poptarts for DH to take to work for the next month!

Here and there and I missed a really good cheese sale a couple of weeks ago that I'm still kicking myself over!

Around here you really have to watch. Sometimes yes but sometimes no it just depends. However when I see a sale I will snap it up, because it will be awhile before they do it again.

We have the opposite here--a lot of phantom sales right now. At least I hope they are phantom and not really just the new sale prices!

We've had some really great sales the past couple weeks. Of course they are just on a few items but they've been worth getting and stocking up on for sure. Things like peanut butter, bottled water, tomato sauce, etc.

I'm sure they are using these loss leaders to lure people in so they'll do all their shopping there but I'm just getting the bargains.
