so my dryer finally died(10 years old) i can't say that i'm upset about it i have hated that thing for the last year its been eating clothes and burning dd small clothes even though its on delicate so that said. what kind of dryer do you have??? what are the pros and cons of it?? i pretty much hang out my clothes in the spring summer and fall but need one for rainy days and winter.. so any input about dryers would be great.. it does not need to be fancy at all it only gets used pretty much one season a year. tia

We have a Kenmore front loader, and I like it. We got a washer and a dryer so I have notificed a decrease in our utilities. The only down side is that the doors open opposite each other so you have to walk around the dryer door to fill it. (I think a man who doesn't do laundry designed it ).

we have the same, love it. BUT, do you have your dryer on the right side of the washer??? our doors, when the washer is to the left of the dryer, open to where i just squat in between them and move the clothes from the washer to the dryer. Weird for yours to be different.

I love Sears Kenmore appliances and have a top-loading dryer and clothes washer. I think I've had this set for about 10 years now.

I'm w/ them...we just have the plain old Kenmore from Sears and we got them because you just next seem to go wrong w/ them. They have warranties but I think our appliances fall under our "home warranty" so we don't have that. But yeah...that's what I would go with.

If you want to go used..my parents got a washer and dryer for $150 for the pair off craigslist.com. Just find your local site and use those classifieds. People sometimes buy new homes that come w/ a washer and dryer (I know we left our 3 year old washer and dryer in AZ when we moved back East). So sometimes they try to sell them...still in great condition..but they just don't need them! I would try that!

I also have a front loading Kenmore drier and a top loading Kenmore washer. I LOVE them both. We have had them 8 years now and knock on wood no problems! I would buy them again.

I agree with everyone else! Sears is the place to go!

It must be the curse of trying to save money since my dryer just went out too. And its only a year old. It was an off brand but made by whirlpool and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! We bought it at best buy.

We bought our first Kenmore washer and dryer set at a Sears Outlet from the "Ding and Dent" section. They lasted 13 years before the minor repairs started adding up (some of which, we did ourselves because our wonderful repair guy showed me how and then told me how to order the part myself It never hurts to ask!).

We replaced them with another Kenmore set when it went on sale. Top loading. Extra large washer basket. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but reliable and energy efficient.
