and I am a pop-aholic. Trying to figure out where our money is going and come to find out my dh and I are drinking a huge amount of it. We spend about $15 a WEEK on popl Holy Cow! That is our gas bill for the month. Can I stop? I don't know, but I am going to have to try. Since it is so cold I am going to need to make coffee in the morning to get going. Anyone else share my additction? I feel like I need a support group.

Dh is addicted to Mt.Dew. He has been trying to drink more juice. Can you switch to storebrand to save money?

It is my one addiction too (besides Mommysavers) but I buy generic pop and usually a 24 pk lasts a week or so even with dh drinking some. I have a routine. I drink a can in the morning on the way to work. I drink flavored water at morning break and another can of pop at lunch. In the evenings I usually have another can.

I think it works well to get into a routine, so you "know" when you can have a pop.

In college I was a huge Mt. Dew junkie. I'm talking 3 -5 a day! I quit drinking caffeinated sodas cold turkey. It was rough for a couple of days because your body gets addicted to the caffeine. After a couple of months I dropped sodas altogether. I haven't had a soda in almost 10 years. My dh finally dropped sodas about a year ago and we saved a bundle of money!

My addition is Dt. Mountian Dew (no generics or store brands compare as of yet). And I do have to say the caffine it has is a plus. I know I can slow down and quit, my dh on the other hand has been an addict for 15+ years and is just about as bad as a drug addict when asked to quit or cut down.
I used to drink just coffee and hardly any pop, and for some reason I switched to pop and now I love the sweetness of it. I need to just start drinking water. Easier said then done but this is what I need to do to save money. (((Sigh)))

DR PEPPER!!! (DH likes Diet DP)

We've cut back though. I used to buy 3-4 24 packs each for the week. Then I switched to 2-liters to save money. Now that I can't take them when I leave the house that helps. DH was always telling me how many calories I was getting just in pop so I switched to Diet DP just last week. It's not NEARLY as good and I'm already looking forward to the regular DP I'll be getting tomorrow night at DH's G-mas house... but anyway. Now I've been getting about 6 2-liters a week and although this has saved us money I'm starting to think we need to cut back even more. I don't think I can do it though. I don't drink water, coffee, tea... gatorade's ok, juices are ok... I don't know. I don't know if I even want to...

Missy, I feel your pain. I used to drink nothing but pop/soda. I drank it first thing in the morning and continuously all day. I have since cut way back on my addiction, although I still am very addicted. I try very hard to only have 2 cans a day I am not sure if I could go to just 1. when I am home it is very hard for me as that is what I would rather grab. I hate water, but love the flavored stuff. When I am working I take water for lunch. I have hot tea in the morning and sometimes throughout the day. I buy a 24 pk a week and between dh and I it is usually always gone. So please know that I am here for you if you need someone to help you through this. I can't do generic either it has to be Pepsi or nothing.

We are pretty bad about it too. I'm lucky that my office stocks our fridge so I don't have to buy it anymore. I just buy some for dh at home occasionally and make a lot of tea.

I too am addicted. I drink coke zero and there isn't a generic version but if there was I still wouldn't do it. I used to drink 6 or more a day and about a year ago I realized it wasn't good for me so I started limiting it. It took awhile because cold turkey wasn't going to happen. I found that making Crystal Light was nice for a change. I have a coke in the morning and one at lunch now and water or Crystal Light the rest of the day. I can make a case (24pk) last me almost two weeks nowm my DH will drink them when he is home. The thing I have really noticed is when I go to bed now I am sleepy not awake until midnight.

You can do it!!!!

....and I'm a Diet DP aholic! lol I used to drink two, two liters a day!!! My New Year's resolution was to quit them. I only buy them on special occasions I switched to flavored waters to help with the transition. Because they are expensive, I half them w/regular water to make them go further.....still struggling with my addiction.
