I almost always make enough for two meals then freeze or have it the next night. I don't use the entire amount of meat needed. Someone already mentioned that one too, like if it calls for 1lb use 3/4 lbs. I use coupons. Don't buy things like packaged cookies or doughs. I hardly ever buy cereal. It is cheaper, healthier and yummier to do pancakes, eggs or things like that for breakfast.

Our biggest thing we could cut out of the grocery bill is bottled water. I HATE our tap water. It is very yucky. You can't tell with like tea or cooking. But to drink it plain it is gross. And hubby and I drink alot of water (the kids do too, but they don't mind the taste of the tap water like I do). That costs us $8 a week right there!!

A good website for basic recipes like chocolate syrup, coffee creamers, seasoning mixes, etc is:
Budget101.com - complete resource for digging yourself out of debt

Here are a couple of recipes I've tried:

Chocolate Syrup (this works so well with milk. Mixes better than Hershey's IMO):
Hershey's Chocolate Syrup

Coffee Mixes:
Coffee and Cappuccino Drink Mixes
I've had several of these. I love drinking a mug of one after dinner (with decaf) as a treat

I also love making pitas and tortillas from scratch. For some reason, I have a hard time spending $3 on a package of pitas, when I can make them for pennies at home. Bread and rolls, as well.

Try using PUR water dispenser - it's $30 at Target, usually there's a $7.50 coupon in the Sunday Paper insert. One filter cleans 40 gallons - bear in mind that the filters are not cheap, but definitely cheaper than bottled water and you will be reducing the unbelievable number of plastic bottles you are throwing out.

We used it till we got a refrig. with a water dispenser.

I have thought about those. They do seem expensive, yet I know they are not near the cost of the bottled water if I add it up. I may go ahead and try it. Thank you!

We have bad tasting well water, so we've been buying the gallons of water for $.71 and then refilling them a few times at the water dispenser they have outside of the grocery store for $.25. When we refill them, we're just using loose change from the car's ash tray or a jar in the house so it really doesn't add to our grocery bill.

Good idea, we may try that if we don't do the pur filter thing. Thank you!
