I tell my dh the same thing.... Call me anti-romantic... but we've always joked around saying that Valentines day was created and invented by Hallmark... I despise how everything is SO expensive for just one day! We show how much we care all year long, and that's the way it should be. We do "celebrate" it our own way (like most of the post above state). We stay home and make a special dinner and enjoy each other's company.

I make a nice dinner at home. I'm also making a cheesecake since it is my hubby's favorite dessert. I bought the girls a little teddy bear on clearance last year and saved it for this year.

Just me and the kids and since it is on a Thursday this year we are staying home for dinner. If it fell on weekend I would probably take them out for 3-4pm dinner. We will probably make pizza, or something they love. Play some games, and I will give them each a little basket of goodies ( art supplies that I got at beginning of school year, cute little heart notepad for my daughter, a deck of cards for my son, and we will make cupcakes and decorate with red sprinkles leftovers from xmas.
They will make me a card, or art project at school, and I will love it!

We'll make some "red" foods to enjoy for Valentine's Day. We'll probably eat at least dessert (strawberry ice cream - pink and DH's fav) in front of the fireplace. We started having picnics in front of the fireplace during Christmas time as a way to make a simple Saturday night supper more special during the holidays, and DD (4) loves it! DD is IN LOVE with the singing cards from Hallmark, so we'll probably get her those and a little box of chocolates with Belle on the front that we saw at CVS yesterday. DH and I will probably just exchange cards, and we'll get a 1st V-Day card for the baby.

Aldi's does have great prices on them, though, when I buy them.

I need a Aldi's by me.
