spending less or saving more? Do they go shopping with you? Do you show them the price difference between a namebrand and a store brand product?
Last summer my dd wanted a neon pink soccer ball. When I explained to here that she could get 2 regular soccer balls for the same price as the neon pink one she picked the regular one .
She also knows that just because their is a Princess or a cartoon character on the box usually makes it more expensive then one without.
For now my girls enjoy shopping at consignment stores as well.

Well, I don't use coupons very often but my kids know about them, esp for online purchases, so if they're wanting something to buy online, they ask if I can search for free shipping or discounts. LOL

My kids have been getting an allowance for a while now. They know that once it's gone - it's gone. They are really great about it though. They're both huge savers. They don't impulse purchase. They'll see something they want and say "...well I'm going to think about it and see if I still want it tomorrow". Often, they don't. They're generous in donating their money and in buying things for other people.

I don't know if they know about store brands vs name brands. I don't buy a lot of store brands myself, it's just not my preference.

My children help me with the coupons and they even read them at the store and do the math most of the time. If the store brand is cheaper we will try it. We have found several store brands that are good and I am teaching them to cook from scratch. We like to "treasure hunt" (thrift stores or garage sales) for things. I also have a pretty nice sized container garden in the back that they like to help me with.

When I was younger we were VERY POOR and we did these thing because we had to. My Mom had money when she was little but when she married my Dad she became poor and she didn't like it. She didn't teach us it was fun to be frugal or green. I am trying to teach my children that it can be fun.

My children go with sometimes when I shop and they know the difference on prices and what's a deal and what's not. They even know that they should look to see if there is a coupon that can be used.
We hit the thrift stores and garage sales I can't believe the hundreds of dollars I save in a year doing this.
I also have a garden, so there is lots of canning and freezing that gets done in the summer time.
They have their savings accounts, but they don't do any withdraws out of them. They know that they need to save because you never know what the next day could bring, so then at least you have something to fall back on.

I can remember stopping by the thrift store with one of my daughters (she was in 2nd grade), and when she saw how little the toys she liked cost, she said that she needed to come back with her allowance money. Now that the twins are older, they try to find decent prices for what they want; games are bought used, etc.
