I'm in too!

We have banks that add up the coins when you insert them. I checked ours and we have $43.xx in it!! DH was just saying that we need to roll those coins and deposit them into savings. The kids have banks too and they have more than we do.

Off to empty my wallet of all of those coins!!!

I'm in. Back when I used cash alot, I really filled up some piggy banks. Since I don't work during the summer, that's what we've used for trips to McDonalds or other odds and ends when money is tight. Its time to start putting change back into them.

I had an idea to try this before (with rounding up to the next full $1 amt in the checkbook) but I don't use the checkbook anymore, so what to do? I'm going to go through my online statement every Friday and round up each transaction to the next dollar. Then I'll take that amount and transfer it into my savings account. A couple clicks once a week shouldn't be too hard! I'm interested in seeing how much "change" we can save! Now to pick a purpose.

I'm in too. Another thing I try to do is when I get paycheck, I put what is left over (if anything :P) from the previous check, in the jar.

DH and I have been doing this for a long time ... In fact, my MIL doesn't work, and my FIL puts his change in a jar everyday. When it starts getting full, my MIL takes it out and keeps it for her spending $$$. He never even notices .... Sneeeeky!
Change really does add up... if you leave it in there. Now that we have to pay for laundry, I find my self taking the quarters out. That's going to be my challenge, LEAVING IT IN!

I've been doing this for years as well. I need to actually use this $ for something. I rarely get to the bank to cash it in. I think my challenge will be to lug it to the bank and have them count it.

I already save change in my old Folgers coffee can. It dates back to when they really were cans. I take it to the bank once a year, around Christmas and use it for gifts for the grandchildren. It really does add up. Linda

I'm in - I have a little jar on my dresser that I throw all change in there (poor dh starts looking for his change and realizes I have put it in our change fund!). Then when the jar gets really full I take it to the bank and deposit it to our savings. I think I'm going to try the rounding up in our checkbook too for February and see how that works for 1 month.
