I totally agree! Since I began making a price list I've really noticed it. It seem I'm constantly updating it. I try to buy most things only on sale but even then the prices are up. I used to only buy cheese @ 3/$5, but lately the best sale is 2/$4. I do grocery shopping for FIL who is disabled and he uses a specific brand of coffee. I was getting it at WalMart for $6.52. All of a sudden (I do shopping for him every two weeks) it went up to $7.49. We use Equate brand Apricot Face Scrub because it's so much cheaper than St. Ive's. Not too long ago (6-9 months ago) I paid $1.67 for it. It gradually increased, then rapidly increased, and it's now at $2.16. Big containers of yogurt went from $1.98 to $2.12. Cream cheese (generic at WalMart) went from .96 to 1.12. Nearly every single thing I buy has recently gone up at least .10. *They* think people don't notice so they can get away with it. Unfortunately that's true of many people but not me (and most of us here). I admit that before my price list I didn't know the actual price of most things I bought. Now I know the exact price, at 2 different stores including best sale prices, of everything I buy. It's liberating yet frustrating at the same time. Sometimes I wish I didn't know.

I watched the tropicana fruit punch and lemonade/limeade go from $1 a carton one week (which it had been for months) to $1.25, then 3 weeks later it was $1.57

my price book cant keep up with all the changes.

It's insane! I was talking with my FIL who does their grocery shopping, and his large containers of cottage cheese went from about $5 to $8! He has to eat really well because he is diabetic(actually, he reversed his diabetes by eating well!). I have been trying so hard to stick to a budget, but I can't believe how hard it is getting! I only have $13 left for the month. I should only have to buy milk and bread, but it gives no room for any fresh fruits and vegetables for the rest of the month! I hate breaking budget just because of 20 cents here and there, but it adds up so fast!

I've been noticing the price increases here too. I know that they have been slowly going up for over a year, 5 cents here, 5 cents there, but now things are starting to shoot up 30-50 cents every week or so. I'm still spending my regular budget on groceries, but have had to really get creative with my cooking. Lots more meatless meals and leftover concoctions. At this rate, we won't be able to afford to buy groceries at all!

I say this every week when I come home from grocery shopping. I cannot believe how expensive everything is especially when you are trying to eat healthy. The 10/$10 deals here are usually for junk food kind of stuff that we don't eat but I can see why people would eat it because it is so much cheaper! Dh came home yesterday from Aldi's and spent $39! We have never spent that much there.

I buy maple syrup instead of regular pancake syrup because we are trying to avoid the additives. It's usually not cheap to begin with but it has gone up an additional $3 for the size we buy. Milk is now $5.69/gal for organic or $3.69/gal for hormone free (not necessarily organic). Everything is just getting outrageous. The only food that is inexpensive is the junk/crap that's full of bad stuff.

I agree with everyone! I hate grocery shopping lately, everything is so high, and each week it just seems to get worse! For a decent loaf of bread (on sale) it's at least $2, eggs are over $2 for a dozen, and of course the milk prices are awful! It is getting harder to stay w/in budget, as some others have mentioned, even the coupons don't seem to help!

The price hikes are getting to be outrageous!! The increases I've noticed the most are with milk, bananas, & most other fresh produce. Milk in our area has increased anywhere from .50-1.00 over the last 4-6 months, and just since December, bananas have gone from .39/lb to .59/lb. at my local Kroger store. We go through a lot of milk and bananas each week, so that's what I've noticed the most!

so true, it seems the prices are going up and the coupon amounts are going down. The coupons barely cover the price differences now.
