We are now. Our '95 car broke down, so now we just have a '92 Blazer. My husband's father picks him up in the morning, since they work together(they own their own remodeling business). He used to pick him up anyway since they work an hour away usually. HUGE gas savings. I try not to go out unless I have to, maybe 3 times a week.

At this moment we can't..... DH drives 45 minutes to work in one direction and I go about the same in the other to class. Once my school is finished and we start our family we might re-evaluate. But I don't know....how would you take your children to preschool, swim lessons, go grocery shopping, doctors appointments, piano lessons, etc ?

But just for envrironmental reasons I would at least try.

we have two, but one is a junk that my husband drive to the train station every day to communte into nyc. we could probally go to one, but he leaves at 5am. that would be really hard to get the kids up that early and i need my car to drive to work. i could walk kids to school, its not a short walk but doable.

Believe it or not I don't even have my drivers license! I can drive I just haven't taken the tests to do it legally, so I don't. I have to admit that it would be nice to be able to just take a car and go sometimes but there isn't a need for us to have two cars right now. I do plan to get my license soon though because my husband started walking to work and I could use the car.

It can take a lot of planning but he has a pretty flexible boss that lets him off work if we really need it for a doctor's appointment or emergencies... and he just makes up for it later. He is on salary so that helps with the money issue if he has to leave work. One car works for us and keeps the bills down so for now that is what we will be... a one car family.
