we have been picking it up for just under $3 per gallon, although I have notice that whole milk (for dd) is pushing that $3 real hard, it is usually about 20 cents more per gallon.

Our milk around here is running about 3.19 but at Aldi's you can usually get it somewhere between 2.89 and 2.99. We also have usually one store running a special for 2.89. My ds milk organic is about 5.50 for a gallon which is cheaper than the half gallons i bought for 3.50 so that is better now. It is hard we love milk and that is the adults i cannot imgaine a bigger family.

I am very picky about our milk. I cannot afford organic so I buy from an area plant, the one that my parents use to sell to, and I avoid rbST hormones that are used on the cows.

That said, I buy a 2-pack of this milk at $6.99 a wack. It is about $1.00 more a gallon if I buy it single.

Its never more than $3 here, unless you want an actual name brand milk like Smith's. I think prices are higher b/c corn, used to feed the cows, is now at a much higher demand b/c of ethanol (E-85) being used for gas. (which there is only a .20 cent diff in E-85 and the normal price of gas, here) If these dumb government officials would let us drill our own oil the prices of stuff might go down. The US hasn't built a new oil refinery since the 70's. I know there is more of a demand and more cars now than then, so WHY HAVEN'T WE?! Instead, you have to pay way to much for a gallon of milk. (Is milk more than gas there?) What is your sales taxes there?

We buy 2%, that is the taste we prefer, from Walmart. It is up to $3.89 a gallon! Totally insane. When it hit $3.00 a gallon last year we went from using 4 gallons a week to 3. Now I want to try to cut back to 2 a week, but I don't know. I only let the kids have a 6oz glass at breakfast and a 4oz glass at bedtime. I drink a glass a day, used to drink two a day but cut that back. And I use it to cook and for cereal.

A friend of ours won't buy milk. She said once it got over the price of a gallon of gas, the kids could get their dairy else where. She has them eat cheese and yogurt to cover their dairy. But I think it is almost just as expenisive.

I usually get ours at Kwik Trip, Skim 1/2 gal. bag for around $1.49 or at Aldi's 1 gal. jug for $2.49. I don't normally buy it at our Walmart or HyVee as they are always more expensive unless they have a sale, but that's not that often.
