in search of great deals for next year? Do you routinely buy coats, snow pants, shirts, pants, etc the next size up for your child to wear the next year?

Always, that's the only way I shop...I buy their shoes this way too, I have stacks in the closet. Since I'm not that big on the current styles, I don't think the kids notice when they're a year behind in fashion. I'm lucky, my kids don't change sizes that often, so I buy up for one year (no more), and I haven't got stuck with anything yet.

i buy ahead too...i have those bags that go under the bed and you suck the air out of them and they go right flat...two extra large ones...one for winter stuff for the next school year and summer stuff...for four people....mine do not care about fashion trends either..they do not want to look like everyone else...good thing...

YES!! I actually just bought winter coats for next year yesterday at Kmart. I spent $14 each for the coats, and they came with mittens. I have a three drawer plastic organizer in each kid's closet, with larger sized clothes just waiting for them to grow into. I shop clearance racks and garage sales. They seem to grow overnight, so it's nice to have some clothes to pull out (that I got cheap) instead of having to run out and buy them at full price when I need them. Because we all know that when we need them, they're never on sale!

I, too, buy a season ahead. I just got an $80 coat for $9.99 for my son! He is getting older now (early teens), so I'm not sure this method of buying 1 size up will work in the future.

I do this every year.

I Have been doing it for years too.

It seems to be the only way to Buy coats , and Boots !

My kids always Get Heavy Duty Columbia Coats and I always Get them 60 % off and Usually have An extra 20 % off Coupon!

I Like my kids clothes a little Big , to Have room to for them to Grow and Shrink when washing ... So we have never run into the too small the next yr. Problem!

I do too! Sears has all their Land's End coats marked down and take an additional 50% off. I got my DD-8 and DS-2, each a LE coat, 1 pr. snow pants, gloves and pj's for next year.

Where are you shopping. Most of my stores have no more winter clothes. I think I missed the boat.

Yep! I have 2 tubs in each child's closet; one for summer and one for winter. Luckily we don't get that cold here, so no need to buy those big expensive coats.

I hit Kohls the other day and basically finishe out ds's wardrobe. I pulled out his winter tub to put it all away and what did I find? Last year Sears' carters pj's hit $3.95 and I had alrady bought 7 pairs of Pj's that far ahead!!

After that I made a list on a notecard of what I need for each child for the next year. I put in my wallet. It will come in very handy during the upcoming consignment sale season!
