We have basic which is 40+ channels. We actually have digital on one of our tv's, but that's because it was a deal when we signed up for high speed internet last year. Once that promo is over the digital is gone.

We still have cable. But we lowered our package. We had a DVR and like 300 channels, of course we only watched a small handful of channels. But we got rid of the DVR and lowered the cable to only basic which is 70 channels. We are very happy we did. It took our bill (for internet and phone too) from $140 a month to $80 a month. I thought we would really miss the DVR, because we recorded everything and watched it later when we wanted and fast forwarded the commercials. But we haven't missed it one bit. If we miss a show we like, oh well. No biggie. Especially the kids shows, you know those will show another 800 times!

I did in November and only miss it for the rare things like figure skating competitions. DD was the only one who watched it and she was horrified but is dealing. She has since found a lot of her shows on official sites when she saw me doing it.

We haven't had cable in several years. I miss it but just can't justify spending as much as they want for it. Don't plan on getting it.

We haven't had "cable" for almost a year now. We do have an antenna ($80) so we get ~7 local stations including the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, NBC weatherplus, CW, and Fox) and with the digital to analog converter ($10 after the dtv2009.gov rebate) the picture comes in much clearer (and it gave us 2 extra channels - weatherplus and CW.)

I do miss it at times, but it's much cheaper for us to buy our favorite series (or borrow them from a friend) or just watch them on the internet. And now that its getting warmer out (very slowly) we'll be spending more time outside!

We dropped cable last year when I became a SAHM. I do not miss it AT ALL, as I never really watched tv anyway. My husband misses it a bit, but he downloads occasional shows/movies off of itunes (this is in the budget). I truly don't think the kids miss it (they are 8,6,4,1). We will allow them to watch a movie or two on the weekends, and that is pretty much the only video time they have. My oldest has asked who Hannah Montana is (from her friends at school), so we've downloaded a few of her shows for her and her 6-year-old brother. There have been many positive consequences to getting rid of cable. The kids play more cooperatively and creatively. They are not being bombarded with advertisements. No worries about inappropriate shows. I have also noticed that I have been reading more lately, which I LOVE! :-) Overall - a good decision for our family!

We only have basic cable which is the major channels and that is about it. I do miss some things like animal planet and the learning channel. The kids miss Disney and Nick. One day my 8 year old dd came home and said she has no friends because she doesn't have cable... Poor thing.

Geesh!!! I feel guilty!!! I have talked to DH about lowering our package, but he refuses to get rid of it. And we have debt. He feels that it is the one source of entertainment since we do not go out to dinner or to the movies. I would definitely miss the news channels and HGTV, but not as much as DH would miss his channels. If the economy gets much worse, we will have to consider it just to pay our home oil bill and to put gas in our cars!
