I have considered dropping cable in the past, but haven't been able to do it in the end. I know we could survive without it, but it's one thing I don't want to survive without. I'd prefer dropping other things...

Can you believe we went 8 months without a TV? We ended up purchasing a TV after 9-11 because we watched all the coverage at the nlaws.

We have basic cable + go digital (basically we get basic plus Noggin). We have about 13 channels. I like to watch the news & weather. The kids watch Noggin.

I must be the oddball here. I have rabbit ears on my TV. Why because since I moved out of my parents house I have never got cable, and that was almost five years ago. I do miss food network and animal planet, but when I visit my parents I watch it there. (It's worth the three hour drive Now we do get ABC NBC CBS PBS CW11 and a few others with our bunny ears.. Heck the one TV I have in my house my parents bought at a pawn shop when they first moved in together over 25 years ago.

We disconnected our dish over a year and a half ago. I miss one of the cable news stations and some of the home shows but definitely not enough to go get our satellite up and working again. I have heard that Canada has a program that you can choose what stations you get. If that was available here I might consider it, because even when we had dish we had so many channels that we never watched.

Another oddball here. We have NEVER had cable. I'm sure it's one of those things that if you've never had it you don't miss it that much, but once you've had it you don't want to go without it. My philosophy has always been that I think we watch too much TV already so why would I pay so we could watch more. Plus I worry about all the negative things on cable. There are times that I wish I had it for certain things, but I've managed without. I'm always surprised about how many people that are in debt pay to have cable.

When I worked with low income people on welfare and medicaid I was always amazed that they would have the largest cable package available - our tax dollars at work!

Getting ready to this month. We usually just drop down to basic in the spring and summer, and then when it starts getting cooler we usually go back to expanded basic. The kids and us are outside all the time when it is nice, and it's nice to have in the winter colder months.

We dropped cable when we moved 3 years ago, and our TV is in an unused room. I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should just get rid of it. There are some channels I really miss, like TLC. But not enough to sign up again.
