So I'm fairly new to being extra frugal. We were never really huge spenders but I'm really trying to be careful--especially trying to cut my grocery bill. So how many of you do coupon trains or buy coupons from a service or ebay? Do you find it worth it? Do you just try to acquire coupons for things you know you buy? It seems like one more thing to spend money on. I already pay for newspaper and I'm trying out the grocery game. I know if you do it right it can really pay off. So I guess I'm asking:
A)do these things work to save money and
B)do you do both or one or the other?
TIA

I used the grocery game until I caught on. Now I don't need it. I cut out only the coupons I use but save the others just in case there is a 10 for 10 or something where I can get an item for free. I also have decided to cook from scratch. No more frozen waffles, french fries, pizza and etc. I look at all my local supermarkets flyers to see who has the best deal on what I buy. I stockpile as well.

mommy&wifeisme can you explain the grocery game to me? We don't have it in ND so I'm not sure I understand what the point of it is. Thanks in advance if you can share.

momof4girls, the Grocery Game matches coupons with sales at your grocery store for that week. They also have the sales cycles figured out so they tell you when is the best time to use coupons--ie when things are on sale for the best price.

I think another one is couponmom.com. Once I figured out what I buy and what type of sales go on for my items. I save those particular coupons and wait for the sale. Knowing it'll be around again. I think sales are in a 12 week cycle ao I stock pile to get me through the 12 weeks and I can get it on sale again.

Anybody else? Do you use a coupon clipping service or are you a part of a coupon train? Do you like it? Which do you prefer? I'd really love to hear what people do.

Some coupons save you money, but sometimes your better off buying off brand grocery items. I clip coupons and set aside the ones Ill most likely use and the rest in another pile of what I might use.
Alot of stores now are not taking internet coupons, such as Albertsons.
