I just spent more money than I'm comfortable with thinking about.
Our computers are our sanity keepers. Our prime source of entertainment (watching TV shows online), our money saver (tracking deals & coupons), our social connection to family & friends who are not local (we even have a private forum for a group of friends that have splintered all over the country), and our main hobby (gaming/World of Warcraft).
DH & I learned very quickly that we have to buy matched sets or we get serious cases of geek envy. Our current systems are 4 1/2 years old and waaaaayyyyy outdated for gaming. We built them just a couple of months before PCI express hit the market and made AGP video cards obsolete - at the time we were trying to save money by recycling new parts from our old systems, and the video cards *were* pretty up-to-date for the time.
The good news is I got exactly what we we wanted for components for cheaper than I would have compromising on prebuilt systems. Shipping was free on everything except the cases. The video cards both have $30 rebates. A couple of components we got discounts just for purchasing two. So I *did* save, even though it doesn't feel like it!
I just feel queasy spending that much money all at once, with how dedicated I am to couponing and chasing deals. It sort of feels like my efforts to save 30¢ here and there have been singlehandedly wiped out. The money came from our tax return though, not our savings. Heck I think I probably posted a similar 'I feel queasy' post last year when we replaced our 10 year old bed that was killing our backs!!!
Anyone else recently make a high dollar purchase that left them feeling like this? I know I can't be alone, everyone IRL thinks I"m loony!
