I don't know what's gotten into me, but lately, I've been getting more and more nervous about the whole financial situation in the US. Maybe it's because gas and food prices have had such a dramatic affect on my family, that it's all just really starting to scare me. I don't usually worry about world economics so much, because it's so out of my control, but lately I'm finding myself questioning, "What's next?"

For a while, Dave Ramsey was saying there wasn't a recession; does anyone know if he's changed his outlook on this?

I haven't listened to Dave Ramsey for awhile, so I can't answer your question about his opinion.

However, I have to admit, I am nervous about it moreso than I've ever been. Even though that dh's job is secure, with 4 kids and the price of everything going sky-high, it's a bit concerning.

It is only my dh and me in our household and we are both concerned. Especially since I just turned in my resignation. We have scrimped and saved for me to be able to quit, and we are still going ahead with it, but we are concerned.

I keep asking, is it ever going to stop(the prices of everything skyrocketing?) I find that we are penny-pinching more than ever before. We have CC debt, but on top of this, our gas and grocery bills are going up. DH is thinking of trading his truck in for a smaller vehicle. If you knew my DH, you would understand that this is a huge step for him.

Honestly, it is so far out of my hands that I do not let it worry me! We are just doing what we need to do in order to pay our bills, reduce our debt and live!! I think if you are worried though you need to take the refunds galore we are getting, (example: May refund) and tax refund and make sure you put them toward debt or in savings and put off buying consumer goods becuase then maybe it will make you feel better if you have more to fall back on

I guess I try to let it not affect me as much. I think where you live can also affect how you view the current affect of the ecconomy. We have secure employment so no worries there. Gas prices well I am not required to go anywhere we could if things got really bad go to one vehical. I haven't really seen food prices go up that much so.
My part of the country is one of the few places that is seeing positive growth in the housing market. Not the boom of a few years ago. Prices have definately stablized but Still this past year I would say my homes gone up 5k.
So no it doesn't have me affraid. Them again I am also an optimist.

I do worry about it...along with many many many other things that the country has going on right now. It makes me not only afraid for the near future, but also that for my kids.

I think with all our resources for information (internet especially), all the information can seem overwhelming, more than before. I do believe we are in a recession (and also believe that our leaders don't want to admit it because they are supposed to be positive and quell panic). The media like to sensationalize everything too, to make you listen to them, so everything is in panic mode. Its important to be aware of whats happening in the country (& world) as these things affect us more directly now than ever before, it is scary sometimes, but you can't let it overwhelm you.

Well, who really knows how bad it can get. Look at the 1920's. What if something like that happens again?

Well at least I know I am not alone--- I worry a lot. It is probably my biggest fault. I worry about my husband's constant deployments, if he will come home or not, and what he would do if he got out of the military. I worry about the downfall of morals and family values in our country. And I worry about our economy. But like others have said there isn't a whole lot we can do about it except live our lives the best we can. So my husband and I scrimp and pinch to be as financially responsible as we can. But honestly on one income there is not a ton left over.

One thing that always gives me peace of mind it family. Worst comes to worst we could all pool together and live together if we had to.

Do your best to be prepared and remember that is pretty much all you can do.
