Jeez,

Now that I'm looking at it, we spent $225 on food last month and $404 on gas (we're DINKY TTC)!!! WE need to cut back big time!

But, some of that is DH's work driving, which we get reimbursed for.

DH and I were just discussing this issue this past week. We spend $800 a month on gas and $450 on food. I would really like to cut back on the gas but there is no way. I work local but he has an hour drive. We don't travel any extra. I drop dh off to school as I go in to work and I run errands after work so that we don't have the drive back into town.

I saw on the news today that truck drivers may go on strick due to the gas prices. Do you ladies think this will help or hurt the gas prices?

I doubt it will help the gas prices.
I fill up everyweek at about 40-50 dollars. I don't know how much my husband goes through, but it is probably double. He has a pickup truck. I have a minivan. I have to drive my daughter to school and back for band class every day. My son has 2 different appointments each week, plus he has to go to the library twice a week. Nothing is by anything else. I go to church twice a week. We don't live in town. I think I am the only sahm who has to fill up every week.

As sorry as I am to read that others are having this problem, it's also a relief knowing we're not alone. We average $550-$650 month on gas (that includes $70-$140 tolls for EZ Pass to take the turnpike to work). Although we've cut down on everything, there's absolutely nothing we can do about the gas bill. We have to pay it to get him to work. Too bad it's a need and not a want!

I know how you feel. I hate filling up and seeing how much it costs us. Ouch.

i only drive to town once a week but dh drives over 60 miles round trip to work so its starting to add up we are under our monthly grocery bill right now but if gas gets to $4 bucks a gallon we will be over and thats with me only getting one tank a month.

my sister lives in the twin cities she added up last month they spent over $1500 bucks in gas(they both work downtown and her dh also works the dome and they pick up her ss down in eden prairie wich is 45 min from them) she can't wait until winter is gone cause her dh will be driving the motorcycle they bought him last year because of gas. we are thinking maybe dh needs a motorcycle to save on gas we are seriously considering it.

We spent a little under $300.00 on groceries, and I spent $40.00 on gas. DH probably filled up his tank once so I would make our gas expenses probably about $120. We live in a small town and have been SERIOUSLY hiding out lately, though.

We have $600 a month budgeted for gas but that is quickly becoming too little. We have $450 budgeted for food.

I don't know where I can cut to get more for gas!

It is crazy what we have to pay for gas!! I don't know how they expect anybody to be able to make a living when everything is so expensive!!
