DH went to the grocery store with me today (usually I just go) but we were near there and to save on an extra trip up there, we planned to go. Well he walked out of there disgusted with the cost of things. He never knows how much things cost since he is not there. He could not believe the price of things.

Finally an eye opener to him!!!!!

That's a good thing, though. It helps him understand where all the money goes. DH rarely goes to a store, either, so it helps him to see the rising costs first hand. He never questions how much stuff costs, but it helps keep it in the right perspective for him.

Hopefully he will appreciate your efforts a little more.

I don't think my husband understands how much I work to keep the grocery budget down while buying healthy foods.

Those "eye openers" for my husband are huge strides for us! I handle most of our money and he doesn't always realize how much these little things add up. Congrats for you and your family.

That's a huge benefit for the entire family! Having both partners involved in the quest for less with the ability to save more is priceless. Good for you!

I thinks it is good for them to see for themselves sometime. It is so hard to stay on budget - I have really grown to love getting my coupon trains in and then go sit sown with my list and the sle paper.

My husband had one of those last week. He asked if we had the money for something...and I told him no. He was very upset and asked "were does all the money go"? Like I'm out shopping every day or something! So I wrote all the bills down for him and I took him grocery shopping with me....he left me alone!!

I like to remind my hubby often that it is a challenge (that I enjoy) to put food on the table that tastes good, is nutritious, and is affordable. I am always considering those things and when I make a decision to try something or change something, I don't just do it, I tell him what I am going to do and why. Luckily, he is always amenable.
