For moms out there who have 2 or more kids do you guys find it hard to shop for toys especially on birthdays just for one child and then leaving the store guilty because the other ones doesn't get anything? I'm guilty of doing it. When I go to the toy store to get something for ds normally for his birthday I ended buying for dd also. Then I beg Dh for mercy because I went over my budget

When we were little my Mom did this for us so it was always like we had to share our birthday with other. Not really our special day. I don't do this for mine and I have three. The Birthday child gets to choose dinner, cake, and they get presents. My kids are very good about not being upset because they know their birthday is coming up and they get to make all of the decisions on their special day.

No I dont feel guilty but as they have gotten older a lot of their interests are the same. They both play with the stuff I get them. As a matter of fact when my youngest had his birthday my oldest commented when opening up one of the gifts Oh this is just what we wanted

Mine do this too. It is so funny to see them make a birthday list together to see what "they" can get.

well today is oldest dd's birthday!
and she got 3 gifts! 2 from dh and I and 1 from youngest dd!! we make sure that the other child gets to pick something special for the birthday girl!
So to them its a big deal to give!! they have to think and they have fun picking the perfect gift!! I have felt that they do not get things unless its there day!!! but we make sure they feel good about it too!!

I beleive it teaches how to give and feel good!!
