Figure out your food budget and stick to it! This includes calculating how much you are going to spend on eating out. Can you stick to the budget?

April is going to be a tight month for us so I'm going to be as frugal as I can with groceries. We are a family of 4, and I'm aiming for $275 on food/beverages and $50 for eating out.

Anyone else with me?

$300.00 (without my garden going) that would be pretty cool. I think we'll try it.

I'm in. My budget is $300 for 3.5 people. I'm pregnant and stocking up on diapers and wipes when on sale, so we'll see what kind of deals we get this month. I need to do better on eating out. Every $2 Wendy's stop is $2 I really didn't need to spend! Good luck everyone! This is hard with so many of the groceries going up now.

I will try jumping in here. Does that count already in the frig/freezer/pantry or just bought that month?

Okay I am embarrassed to post this...I am budgeting $200 (sure it very high but we have to leave for house showings and I hate to mess the kitchen right before the showing. We jsut put our house on the market, crossing fingers) out to eat and $600 groceries. I am sure that is HIGH compared to most but I am kind of screwed with a smaller frig/freezer (had to upgrade to new for selling our house) and no extra freezer anymore for stockpiling sales (it died and not replacing until after we move).

Me, Dh and 2 school/1 preschool kids. I'm trying to cook/eat healthier so our budget has gone way up.

I count is as food that is bought this month. I don't count what I have in the pantry or freezer.

I'll try for $550 for the 6 of us. Weekly grocery runs cost me about $112 these days. I figure hubby will probably want to eat out at least once if not twice, I'll leave us $100 for that. It's funny because I looked at this number and I thought gosh, that's pretty high. Compared to what the USDA thinks I should be spending I'm downright frugal though. My oldest had a budgeting assignment and they had him budgeting $250 a month for one person and yesterday I read an article that said the average family of 4 spends $904 a month on groceries. I can't imagine what those grocery baskets would look like.

i'll try for $300 for a family of 4. this will include everything purchased for us. i hope i can do it, especially since the sales tax went up in indiana starting today from 6-7% . let's see if that will change with all the toiletries that i need to buy this month.
