buy something like this? A "surprise grab box" filled with misc clothes (kids, one size, one gender) for $XX ??

Ex: 3 long sleeved gymbo outfits (pants/shirts), 4 prs of TCP leggings, 1 Honors sweat outfit (shirt/pants), 2 long sleeved misc brand dresses, 1 Old Navy sweatshirt, 1 Turtleneck for $10.00

You wouldn't be able to see the items before purchase BUT would be guaranteed GOOD used condition, NO holes, NO thinning wear spots.

I am doing a garage sale again with our mom's group, and am just trying to come up with new, easy, clever ideas to get rid of LARGE amounts of clothing in one shot, rather than pricing each item or trying to keep things straight on tables with everyone else (ex: this table everything $.50).

Would you consider it?

No.

Instead, why not do "fill up this paper grocery bag for x$?" Then they can pick things that might fit them and their family.

Are you going to have a list of what is in the box on the outside??

I might consider it, but I would want to see them items I am buying probably. Good idea though!

I like the fill a bag idea too.

I agree, the 'fill the bag' idea is better. I've been to large flea market type garage sales that do that an hour before the event is going to close. People run around grabbing stuff and not caring in hopes of getting a great deal before someone else. It's crazy. They don't even care what they put in the bag just in case it is something good.

I would not be interested either, I also like to see the clothes I buy. To size them up or whatever. But I do have a hint for you. I read an article about garage sales. It said Americans are addicted to ziploc bags and that if you place multiple items in bags they will sell. I tried it and it worked great. I sold all my kids "McDonald like" toys, barbie clothes/shoes, socks undies and other misc stuff. I didn't mark it very cheap, planning to reduce price if needed. But they were viewed more often then I ever thought they would be. Good luck at your sale!!

Nope I wouldnt buy anything I cant see. Plus I would be careful because if you sell it that way someone is going to complain about it. They might not like it. Sounds like a hassle.

Oh - ziplock bags - great idea. I do it also for smaller goods, but could place the bundles in those. It's not that I dont want them to be able to see the clothes, but was trying to keep them bundled together without having the rude ones dork with everything and spread them all over, mixing them all up.

I have also done the grocery bag full of stuff, but also don't like to offer that until the end of the sale.
