so in my frugal attempts to not drive my car to pick up and drop off my oldest ds at school i come to the realization that my 3 1/2 yr old can't walk a mile without going at a snail like pace then complaining all the way back home the 2nd mile... so i think i'm going to spend the 106.00 at walmart and get a sit and stand stroller so ds can ride when he gets tired and dd can sit up front man i did not think it was going to be such a trauma to walk and pick up ds this afternoon... i think in the long run it will pay off because we can walk to school(wich ds will be going starting back in july for summer school) the post office the town library and the town grocery store so pretty much my van can stay parked almost all summer...

do you think i'm crazy to buy a more accomidating stroller than drive???

NO cuz the stroller does not take gas! LOL Plus you'll probably get a ton of use out of it over the summer, and all the walks you take picking ds at school you need to be comfortable. I would do it!

Not nuts at all. I wish I could have afforded a decent stroller when I had to walk my son to school with a 2 and 3 year old. The 2 year old got to sit in the stroller, and when desperate, the 3 year old would sit in the basket.

I think its a great idea! When I take my 4 yr old and 2 3 yr olds around the block it takes us an hr I feel your pain! I used the stroller to and from school in the fall plus not only will you get cardio excercise but your arms may benefit depending on the amount of weight your pushing. DON'T forget to stand tall to avoid a bad back!

I think it's a great idea too. We have always walked back and forth to school (a mile each way) but until the kids were in grade one, I put them in a wagon with seat belts. They were just too slow at walking before then.

Sounds like a good idea. When you'e finished with the stroller, you can always sell it and recoup some of your investment.

Using a stroller for the 3-yr old isn't a problem, but I wouldn't go out and buy a new or specialty stroller for the purpose. Don't you already have a stroller? If not, I got my last great stroller used for $10. I wouldn't spend more than that - and only if I couldn't find a free stroller. Your school aged child is old enough to walk the mile from the bus stop.

I use a wagon. It is much easier and you can put the backpack in it too. We live a two mile round trip to the school and my Ds can walk there and some of the way home but he does require the last incline to be pulled up it. Not to mention if you have to off road a wagon is easier.

A wagon is what I was going to say, too! I'm going to get one, b/c I am housekeeping in the mornings, and even tho it's 3 or 4 doors down, their house isn't babyproofed so I have to bring dd, her walker, her toys, a blanket, and I'd REALLY like a free hand for a cup of coffee. That all gets heavy really fast! And akward.

It would def. be the cheaper way to go!
