I have been going through the closets seeing what will fit for spring. Today I started going through the totes of clothes downstairs. My youngest gets all the hand-me-downs from her sister. Do you ever feel alittle guilty when the younger child rarely gets anything new? She truely doesn't need anything besides new underwear so I know I just need to get over it, and be happy I saved money.

i did when my middle son was younger and would wear his older bro's handme downs so to combat that i would buy him 1 or 2 inexpensive new outfits.. unfortunately they are not on the same size for seasons so the only thing for the last year and a half that could be handed down has been coats snowpants and sweat shirts.. my oldest is short waisted and middle son is long legged... so i hand down to a nephew and a friend that does foster care.

I don't feel too guilty because we get our kids' clothes from the thrift store and so they're all "used." To them, they're new and they don't mind. Our younger kids do get a lot of hand-me downs from the older kids but they also get "new" clothes every now and again because we see something at the thrift store that we couldn't pass up.

Now, we'll see how they (and I) feel once they're older. My oldest is only 7 so we haven't hit the "gotta haves" yet.

I have only been able to use about half the clothes because they were born in different seasons.

I do feel guilty about the toys. My oldest got a lot of new things but my youngest gets more hand-me-downs. I know she doesn't care

In our family we had 4 boys all 9-11 months apart. Bob got all the hand me downs from the first boy and by the time Jamie was ready there wasn't much left. So it's my youngest that seems to be getting more "new" clothes. And by new I mean new to the family thrift store buys, lol.

i was the oldest daughter in our family, and a lot of the times i loved wearing my older brother's hand me down jackets and stuff. not that i was trying to be a boy, i just liked the style. my little sister did get a few hand- me downs, but she got to pick which ones she wanted. when children are young, i don't think they care about having new clothes. when they're older and have their own style, it might be more difficult.

Luckily, my youngest doesn't care yet. He does get new jeans because none of them seemed to make it without holes in the knees. And the gym shoes don't seem to make it to the next kid either. I do get them new matching shirts for Easter, but otherwise I seem to be overflowing with stuff for my younger one (hand-me-downs from a cousin too).

I was a younger sister growing up, and I didn't get many new things either! I guess I was pretty easy going though, I don't remember making too big a stink about it! (but I really really loved new shoes)

That's funny that you ask! I was telling my sister the other day how I felt bad because my oldest could still fit into all her last summer clothes. I wanted her to not have to wear the same old thing that she did last summer.....but I'm glade I saved the money!! I think I'll get her two new dresses.

I get sick of the clothes after dressing, removing stains, washing, folding, hanging so many times. I usually get rid of the stuff that was worn alot just because I'm sick of looking at it. If I didn't get to buy my 2nd dd a few new(used) outfits, I would just go crazy.
