Great job ladies! I'm not a pop drinker but I have to admire what you all are doing.

Wow, that's great!!! I agree, beverages - whether it's pop or alcohol - can be really expensive. I am a Diet Coke LOVER. However, I really cut back when I was visiting my parents. I used to drink 2-3 cans a day easy. Now, I just save it for when I'm out and about and don't keep it at home anymore. I bought some at the airport and didn't even drink the whole thing because it didn't taste as good.

Still keep beer in the 'frig though. Maybe I'll work on that next!

I am a diet coke addict. I once was a mt. dew addict. I switched because it was getting really out of hand, calorie wise. I am now working on switching to iced tea, and then to water. It really does add up!

I do like pop but have gotten much better with it. We hardly ever have beer around unless we know were having company. However we do drink Crystal Light and I make Koolaid for the kids. It all adds up, but I don't think we will ever get down to just water!

GOOD for you and I know your doing good

I know how good mountain dew is. It is my favorite!
I don't drink it when I am pregnant and limit myself to one can of pop when I do but to quit altogether would be great.

DH and I used to both drink so much pop every single day. When I was a teen, I drank 4 / 12 packs of cans a week by myself. When DH and I decided enough was enough and quit drinking pop, we both lost weight (he more than I). Once in a while, I'll have a pop at a restaurant, in a small cup and limit myself to one with no refill. If I have more than that, I literally get sick to my stomach. I never realized how it made me feel, until I quit drinking it, but now it's like, "I remember this feeling!" and I don't like it. I carry a 30 oz water bottle with me and try to fill it at least 2 times per day. Sometimes I'll fill it with iced tea that we make. Yesterday I read that a good rule of thumb for how much water to drink is, take your height in inches and that's how many ounces of water you should drink per day. So, I am 5'3", or 63", so that's how many ounces I should drink.

Great Job Ladies! I am right here with you. Last week there was a study published that diet soft drinks actually contribute to obesity more than regular soda. I read that study and asked my husband to take my Diet Dr. Pepper out to the trash. I haven't had any soda in 1 week and 5 days.

My husband jokes that I sound like it's harder to give up soda than it was for him to quit smoking, and sometimes I think he's right. It just was such a part of me.

But I feel better, and I can tell that the little bloat in my belly has gone way down from not having all the carbonation. That's another great plus.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Jenn

I was going to say, you'll probably lose weight too. I know DH did when he quit drinking pop. He used to drink just as much as you. I no longer buy any pop, unless maybe one 2-liter for a treat once in awhile. I really haven't bought any since last June.

Congratulations to everyone giving up this habit!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, about a month or so ago I finally decided I didn't need the extra calories so I switched from Dr. Pepper to Diet Dr. Pepper. Then I decided I really don't need the caffene either. (especially since I'm nursing) SO, I've switched to Caffene Free Diet Dr Pepper. Plus we've added Diet A&W Root Beer (which is caffene free).

So at this point I'm not addicted to the caffene anymore. I just drink it cause I don't like to drink anything else. I too would LOVE to quit all together, but I don't think I could do it! DH can quit whenever he wants. If I talked him into it he'd be fine with me not buying any pop anymore, but I just don't think I like this plan!

I just can't drink water. I can't STAND tea. I can do a little gatorade or juice, but yuck. I just like my pop!

I'm right there with you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Diet Coke, and can put it away like nobody's business. Now I am making up a huge jug of ice tea everyday and just going with that. I am easily saving $5 - 10 a week doing this. It is hard but we can do it!
