Hi Everyone! I am new here....

I am 29 years old and a full-time WOHM. I am also 2 months pregnant. I am really hoping to be a SAHM for my second child. We are working ourselves out of debt, and hope to begin a budget/money-saving system that we can use to get ourselves used to living on one income. Any suggestions? Have you guys done things that worked well or didn't?

On a side note, I am going to be the difficult one....My husband is already very frugal by nature.....Help!

Stephanie

Hi and welcome to the site! We took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and that really helped us! A lot of the ladies here have great advice to help you towards your goal of becoming a SAHM. I would definitely say to try to bank as much of your check as possible. And eventually get to the point of where you are banking all of your check and some of DH's check too before you quit completely. When I became a SAHM we had no savings whatsoever. It was by the grace of God that we were able to make it. Now we are slowly building our savings. Try to read as many threads/posts on here as you can. THere is so much good advice here! Good luck!

Welcome!

When I was pregnant with my first, I wanted to be able to quit. So, we paid off a few debts early in the pregnancy and then started putting my paychecks in to savings. At first one, then both checks. When I quit, we could almost live on my husband's income. If we wanted or needed something extra, we used the savings. It never got totally depleted b/c my husband got a raise the next year. It was hard the first few years (I have been home almost seven years), but if you don't start somewhere, you never will! Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!
