I'm going to try and do container gardening because I really don't have a spot in the backyard that would be good for a garden. We love fresh vegetables so hopefully it saves us money this summer and into fall.

Cherry tomatoes are the easiest to grow, at least in my experience. Good luck!

We have also planted a few things this year, we planted some sugar snap peas that are already doing well, carrots, cabbage, okra, and green beans. I hope they do well, it would definately save us some extra $$ on the grocery budget! Good luck with yours!

Don't forget that you can use containers for Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, even carrots (if its deep enough) and lettuce and set them on your deck/porch as long a they get sunlight. I had a friend also planted a "hill" of potatoes in a half barrel planter - you start the seed potato in the bottom and "hill" the plants up by covering it up with soil...you might end up with 10-15lbs of potatoes in the tub...Anyway, I guess my point is there are a lot of easy way to have a "garden" without taking up your entire back yard. I've never used the hanging tomato planters but I know people who have and they work great.

I am trying to grow containers of veggies too for the first time this year. DH says that he hopes I can do better with veggies because I have a black thumb when it comes to house plants. I am so hoping I prove him wrong!!

Any good starter info sources that you would recommend? Anyone know where to find the hanging planters? Those sound great!
