I tend to be an impulsive shopper when I find a good deal or I'm excited about something. I have to make myself stop and think before buying something. When I go through the ads I write down what I think I need. I give myself some distance from the list and come back to it. Then I cross off items that we really don't need, even if they are on sale.

I was looking through the summer programs for the Science Station and through the recreation department. I was highlighting everything that sounded fun. I had a light bulb moment last night when I saw the prices for the Science Station. It's $70 for a week, 1 1/2 hrs a day. There is no reason I can't teach my dd's at home these topics (human body, space, dinosaurs, learning about senses) by simply going to the library or looking online. My oldest loves to get messy and we were looking at the Slimey class. They have the same kits at Michaels that next week are going to be 25% off. Plus I checked out a book from the library on how to make slime, goo, etc.

Anyone else get exciting about things and then stop and think when you realize how much it costs?

This is so me, I even do this when I am in the store checking out clearence deals, I make sure it is something that we currently use and I will even search through my coupons to see if I have any for it.

and the bad part is that i really try. But I just can't resist a good deal or bargin.

One thing i have learn to do over the years, is when i am buying online, i will check everything i want and add it to my cart. Then I don't order that day but wait for a day or two. 9 times out of 10 i delete half of what was in my cart.

That makes me feel better about my spending!
