We have been able to save alittle on groceries in the past month. I switched to Aldi's coffee and their brand of chocolate syrup. Dh hasn't said anything . Plus he has given up Mt Dew, so that is saving us at least $20 a month (he drank alot of it).

My family can't tell the difference between anything Aldi's and the name brand. Of course, at my house, no one was used to name brand anyway

That is so funny! I recently switched our coffee as well ~ DH has always been a snob about his coffee. What I did was emptied the Aldi coffee into the Maxwell House container, so he doesn't know the difference. I do that with a lot of things now from Aldi ~ I think if you don't see difference in the packaging, you won't notice a difference in the taste. (for most things) I think it is because you aren't really "comparing" it to what you think it is.

Congrats on the savings! I love aldi - but I have to say, it is easy to overspend there too! I was in there yesterday just for bread, sugar & Clancey's (the nacho cheese chips) and I ended up buying so much more! They had great deals that I did not want to pass up! (so $25 later... oh well ~ I got two bags full of stuff!)

Dh and the kids didn't know when I switched from beef to turkey burgers and hot dogs. I once did veggie burgers and they didn't know.

There are only a handful of things that my family prefers name brand. Everything else is pretty much generic or whatever brand is on sale that week. :-)

There are only a couple of items that we use that are name brand otherwise we prefer generic brands. I know when I switched the majority of our soup to store brand no one noticed until I asked what they thought of it and they were like what kind is it, it's really good.
