I only pay my lot rent with a money order. It is the only thing I need to use a check/money order for, so I keep forgeting to order checks. I pay all my other bills online, and use cash or my debit card in the store. Money orders are not free at my bank, I think they are 3 dollars. I can get them for about a dollar or less at the store.

When I sell things on eBay I get a fair number of money orders. I think it's a good idea because today it is possible to give the tracking information off a check to various companies and have them deduct money from your account that way. Of course none of my buyers have to worry I'll do that with their check! However, I'm sure there are unscrupulous people out there that would. A MO just protects you from any possibility of that.

I used to use money orders a lot. I didn't have a checking account because I had problems managing money. Now that I'm older we have a checking account and rarely use it. Most of our bills are paid online and we get enough cash out for the week.

We use checks most of the time but we do use money orders, too.

I got a great deal when we first opened our checking account and got the free book of checks that you normallly get and then six boxes of checks for the price of one.

We use checks for almost everything (except cc bills because we pay those online) and I have only gone through the first book and one box of checks in three years. I know that there are ways to get money orders for cheap but until I use up my stock they will never be cheaper than using checks.

Also, It has saved us time and money by not having to go to the store to get them and also because we don't always buy things we want because we don't want to write a check for a tiny amount. That is the reason we don't have a debit card. It makes little purchases too easy to buy and too easy to forget you bought.

We opened another checking account at a different bank last year and their checks are free. They are not the "cute" ones but they serve their purpose. Between our two accounts it would be pointless for us to buy money orders.

I use the online bill payer with my bank and there is no charge. I have found that I can pay so many bills electronically and save on stamps and check costs that I do it whenever I can.

I bought checks through Wal Mart financial online. They were having a special at the time and it was super cheap so I bought like 400 checks -- this was two years ago and I still have at least 250 checks left.

I have never used a money order. Even if they were free at my bank it is inconvient for me to have to run out and get them before I pay bills. It seems like I take care of my finances either early in the morning or late at night.
