Question With the cost of food on the rise, do you plan to stockpile?

Do you plan to stockpile large amounts of food to help your family combat the rising food costs? Why or why not.

I do plan on it. I am not a normal stockpiler, but I do have a huge fear of not being able to afford food!! As soon as we receive our economic stimulus check next week, I plan to take part of it and go to Aldi's and stock up on canned good and other non-perishables.

Now, I know that people stockpiling large quantities will contribute somewhat to the supposed food shortages, but I need to look out for my family first and make sure we have what we need. Also, I work at the school, so I will not be making much of anything during the summer and I really don't want us to go hungry! Yeah, the rising prices are scareing me more than a little bit!

Since we eat mainly fresh foods, it makes it hard to stockpile. I do plan on stocking up on a few things like canned tomatoes, beans, rice and pastas and cleaning out my freezer to fit some meats and frozen veggies when I find them on sale, but even stuff in the freezer can expire. But, in general my pantry tends to be half full and my fridge is always full. I am just making sure that we eat everything I buy and nothing goes to waste, I actually buy less when I buy EXACTLY what we need. Hopefully that will save us some money as groceries keep going up.

Yes I will stockpile some non perishable items (like rice or canned goods).
To compensate the rising costs of food I'm also trying harder to learn new recipes with cheaper ingredients and find places where I can get some foods cheaper. I never noticed before just how many people are selling food items like eggs (of course), produce and even sausage until I really started looking for it. They are sometimes cheaper than the supermarkets and the food is soooo much better.

we are stockpiling things we know we will be eating over the next 6 months like boneless skinless chicken breasts(when i find a good deal i stock up) some items that we eat on a regular basis along with several months of tp and laundry soap stuff like that to help us out over the summer months.

I stockpile like crazy, I always have. Now I have a system where I rotate all the food I stockpile and I only go to the grocery store for the awesome deals and dairy and fresh fruits and veggies. Although, I would maybe love to own some chickens...

Actually, as of late, I've been trying to thin our stockpile. I'm tired of food getting shifted to the back and spoiling. Also going to stop canned veggies, and do frozen, because it tastes better. Some things, I will stockpile on if it's a heck of a sale, but other than that, not going to do more than a few weeks of meals on hand, because I've noticed it costing us more than it's saving us, recently.

We are planning on it but the bad thing is we are in the military we can't take the food with us when we move. Dh wants to buy rice, pasta, can food here and there but I want a whole warehouse full of food. If we have a shed that's where all be going we will see.

I've always stockpiled somethings! I don't think the recent prices have changed anything other than expanding my garden this year. Of course with the dang weather we've had, I'm a bit behind on the garden. But it all works out in the end.

I have always stockpiled on certain items when they go on sale. I am going to expand my garden this year and do more canning and freezing of items.
