im really starting to worry bout the world! everything seems to be hitting so hard at once. between the gas prices, food prices, rumors of lack of oil, earthquakes in odd places it just seems like the world is falling apart! im worried bout what is goin to happen in the next year! is everyone goin to be scrounging for money, debating on whether to put gas in the car or feeding the family. is gas goin to start being rationed? is this turning into another depression? its all overwhelming.

To tell you the truth, I am past worrying about the world. I am just worrying about my family. I am hoping and praying we will surrvive okay. Our retirement account is taking a huge hit and we can't do anything about it. We are no spring chickens either.

this is my thinking we have to look out for number one and in the end it food and shelter when it comes down to it... its one of those things a cycle of life we have to ride it out and do the best we can. i think adapting some older era ways of thinking and doing things can't hurt at all meaning a simpiler life.

Personally I think Gas should Have been rationed long ago.
I Have heard about Coming Oil shortages For years.

America has Done itself in ... I do Believe that.
No- one seems to Care until it is Right there in Front of them and they have to Face it.

What will happen , I Don't Know.

I do know that there is No Guarentee any of us will be here Next Yr. So Who is to say that Lack of Money and Oil will Harm us anyway?
If we are Going to worry , It will have to Include Any and all the things that could Happen to us I Guess. And that is just too many , so I am Taking it day by day.

Suze Orman says to be concerned, but not worried, that the ecnomy goes through periods of growth, and periods of contraction, which we are in right now.

I'm not really worried. As all tighter times in the past, we will all pull through and things will stop being so lean, IF we don't panic but instead stay calm and focused on our goals and needs, not letting mass hysteria take us over and make us spend more than we need, worry more than we should, and become slaves to those things.

I personally am not worrying. I'm an optimistic person by nature and believe the economy goes through routine periods of ups and downs. We are currently financially stable enough to weather a small down turn. We do not spend money extravagantly, and if we had to cut back more, we could easily do it. There's lots of fluff that can be cut out of people's budgets before it would really be dire.

The world is always crazy. DH and I discussed this last night and he told me since the world is changing dramatically instead of focusing of what is happening around us we should concentrate on preparing our kids for the future. We want our kids to be independent and be successful in life we don't know what's going to happen in the future and I'm sure people back in the
40's said the same thing about the 60's and the 70's. I don't know about Suzie Orman's advice but sometimes you have to look at what's happening in the world. Whatever happens in Asia (drought, earthquake etc..) it always affect us all. I'm just hoping that Black Tuesday doesn't happen again. That would be a disaster. Then again what can you do? DH and I just preparing ourselves financially I mean we don't know if $600 in the future is going to be less or could be more who knows? We are going start stocking our pantry though just in case if anything happens like the movie "The Day After Tomorrow" God, I hope not. For now we are just enjoying our kids and the present.

Edit: It is really hard to ignore what's happening in the world though but maybe its a wake up call that the time is coming so maybe we should start asking God for forgiveness.

You know, I am not worried. Yes, I have some concerns right now -- my husband's job is not as stable as I would like it. But he does have some alternatives lined up. I am also capable of working myself. Right now I am home with the kids and our kids do benefit from that but if things change, I am capable of re-entering the workforce and working some odd hours to keep our house over our head and food on our table.

Like others have said, the economy goes up and down.

I am concerned but it has to do more with my husband's employment. If a democrat is elected, he will not have the same job security. No one is ever guaranteed their job. I know that the hard way. I've been laid off twice in my short career before becoming a SAHM.

My other primary concern is gas. We spend a lot of money on gas running our boat. I've tried to hint to my husband that we cannot afford to run the boat this year but he is in denial. I do love skiing but I also like to eat.

Food shortages are scary, also.

I grew up being afraid that an atomic bomb was going to drop at any time. I guess this will also pass.

Like others said, I will work odd hours to feed my family if necessary.
