I had a screaming toothache all weekend, went to the dentist yesterday and found out I need a root canal. Then, on the way home from the dentist, the "check engine" light went on in my car. As painful, depressing, and inconvenient as this all is, at least I'm not worrying about how to pay for it. Our emergency fund should cover the mechanic's charges, and we have a health savings account to pay for the dental bills. A couple of years ago, when we had nothing in savings, this would have thrown our finances into a major crisis, and me into a panic attack. I'm so thankful for how far I have come, thanks to sites like this one.

They say you shouldn't throw money at problems, but Dang, it makes life easier, when you can throw it!

Sorry about the tooth and the car problems but you're right, at least you had a way to cover the expenses. KatherynHannah posted an article last week (I think) that talked about this same issue as well.

I hope your tooth gets to feeling better real quick! Same for your car.
