Well the bills are just starting to come in on DH's 5 day stay in the hospital at the beginning of the month!!! The ambulance alone was $300!!! His issues are still not resolved and we are heading to Mayo this month for more tests. Our flex spending account for the year is more than used up already!!

Our old bathtub and pipes were leaking and ruining the floor so we had to replace the tub and some walls, around $1000. Both the car and the truck had problems that had to be fixed....I don't even know yet how much that all is but it's at least $500. Dh fishes oysters and the season started yesterday so he had to spend mega bucks this year on boat repairs and what not....our poor Visa is up to $2000! Plus we will soon be getting a tax bill....I'm sure it will be around $5000! I don't know how we are going to pay for all of this plus regular living expenses ? Pray I guess?!

My son just had surgery and we're already getting bills for deductible, coinsurance, etc.

My husband's car has 230,000 miles on it! We have to make a decision this whether to buy a new motor for it (we've put so much money into this car over the years so almost everything has been replaced!) or buying an econobox that would be better on gas. Either way, that'll be thousands.

We're praying our heater makes it another year! It's got a terrible leak that has rusted thru. Our neighbor, and the man who will replace it someday, said it could go anytime or last 10 years! It's just one of those things - do we fix it now, when summers coming...or take a chance to go thru another year...winter and all? We're shooting for taking a chance simply because we won't have the money to fix it and would have to put it on our credit card.

Like I said, although I don't wish any of these things on anybody, it's nice to see we're not the only ones.
I feel your pain! My husbands truck cost us 6k in repairs last year. Sad thing is he bought it used 5 years ago for 14K and we have put that much into it in repairs. I was against buying a used vehicle when he got it. He will drive that thing into the ground after the amounts of money and TWO transmissions we put into it. I still drive the Honda Civic we bought new in 1998 and have had to do only routine repairs that one would expect. I will drive that Civic til it is no longer driveable. Car payments are outrageous!!!!!!!!! no car payments makes higher gas prices easier to handle.

My Fil died, which was horrible enough, and we spent about $2,500 on our drive to and from Oregon, food and other misc expenses. The drive to Oregon was super expensive because we got turned around in Wyoming, I-80 was closed due to snow, and we had to backtrack to Denver and go over I-70 through the mountains. My poor van did not like the altitude and the gas through the pass was expensive, plus it added another day to our trip which added up to extra food costs. Thankfully I had our tax return $$ still sitting in our checking account, I had other plans for it, so we were able to pay cash for everything.

Our trip for spring break to visit friends ended up with us spending two nights in a hotel instead of with friends due to a death in their family. Combined with food for those two days it was ca ching, ca ching.

But it was all worth it, so I don't feel bad. It was just unexpected.

DH's jeep needed a $626 repair and we got an unexpected $300 medical bill. There was also a bubble on one of the tires on the van ($124) and DH and I needed new glasses ($424 - gotta love Costco!). So - in total, we had just about $1,500 in unexpected expenses this month, but we were very blessed to be able to pay for them. I feel very, very fortunate because that is the case.
