To help make ends meet has anyone cut back on the activities your children are in or what their plans where for this summer.

Just because it was getting crazy with an activity every night we cut out gymnastics during the school year and will do it this summer. (Saving money was a bonus).
I was going to sign them up for classes at the Science Station, but they increased their prices to $70/week and it's only 1 1/2 hrs a day. Most of the topics we can learn about on our own anyways. Instead I signed them up for art classes through the recreation department that only cost $25.

We dropped out of pre-school but that was more for personal reasons though I have to admit that I don't miss writing that monthly check!

We've since started gymnastics, which is less expensive than pre-school ... of course now there is the twice a week 40 mile each way drive ... so really, I'm not sure if we're saving money from lack of preschool each month or not.

Not yet but I am considering it. I am having a hard time with it though because dd doesn't really do that much. She is only in Gymnastics and cheerleading. She has been in gymnastics all school year and sign ups for cheerleading is Monday night for the next school year. It's going to be expensive when cheerleading gets started. I am not sure we can afford the both of them. I have looked at cutting back in other places to accomidate for it but I can't seem to find anywhere else to cut back. Not sure what I will do yet.

My boys are still pretty little (6,5,2) so there are not a lot of activities for them during the school year. My now kindergartener did do a basketball camp earlier in the school year and it was only $20 for a couple of weeks. I know that the two older boys will each want to do it next year. Beings it is not very expensive, I will make sure that they get to do it. For the summer, they will do tee ball (I think that was roughly $30 per kid last summer) and swim lessons. I am considering getting us a family membership to our local rec center. I figure since we are so close to it (about three blocks) that we will get some good use out of it this summer. Plus if we are members, I will get a break on swim lessons. Non member price per child (all three boys are going to do swim lessons) for two weeks of swim lessons is $35 where members are charged only $25. I usually sign them up for two sessions so I will be saving some money too.

We only do one activity at a time, right now its soccer 2 nights a week and Saturday morning. Come summer we will do swimming again 4x a week!

I have not yet sent my kids to any sort of day camp and as long as I am sitting kids their age I wont. Daycare kids also do swimming so I take them all! We also walk free!

I think parents are someitimes made to feel guilty if they dont have them signed up for a bunch of stuff, I see no need as I find it stressfull enough having soccer 2 nights in a row, and currently thats only 1 child next year it will be both

I would like to send my daughter to one of the preschool summer camps (there are 4) but they are $100 a week.

I do plan on signing her up for swimming lessons at the county pool. I can't remember exactly how much they are but they are very reasonable. It is only 45 minutes a day but would give her something to look forward to.

I'm trying to build the emergeny fund back up after we finish our latest improvement project.

I may let our oldest go to volleyball camp- it is only $65 but besides that we will just do vacation bible school (which is free!). We cut out dance class a few years ago- dd did not want to do competition which they were pushing her for and she decided no to dance (which I kind of miss!).

No. My kids are sports kids and luckily this time of year(little league season) it's all local/in town, so no long car trips, so we save on gas and the fee for three of them to sign up was a family fee of $60. We're actually making out well now. And we have a few tournaments that one of my son is in for his hockey team this summer, but that's paid for with fundraising.

Our tax return will go toward paying for the Hockey tuition for the two boys. Ice Hockey is usually August through April. I have summers off, so my kids do not go to daycare/camp. I may sign them up for the town playground program, but that's still up in the air.

I couldn't imagine my kids not being involved in sports and would do what I could to pay for their tuition for it.
