right now food still is higher than gas but i literally go to town on mon wed nights while the boys are at martial arts otherwise i simply stay home its finally starting to get into the 60's here so we are outside moore so i don't go crazy we also drive our saturn and leave our mini van sit as of late we have been averaging 34 mpg so its a no brainer for me not to drive since town is over 20 miles from us.

My local gas station has been holding at $3.90 gallon.

Our last month's gas expenditures was about $200 or so. Our groceries were about $600, so for now, we're spending 3 times as much for groceries.

We probably pay twice as much for gas than for groceries each month (lately). DH drives 45 min. one way to work 6 days/week, and I drive an hour one way to work 3 days/week, and then there are the errands and church (also almost an hour away). I'm guessing between the two of us we drive 600-700 miles per week.

Thank goodness my DH and I work at the same place - just different departments. I have a very understanding boss and he lets me come in at 6am with my husband. So we have cut our gas by half! We absolutely DO NOT go back to town after we get home. If we need something from the store, it has to wait until the next day when we are in town for work. I feel sorry for the parents that have to run 1+ children to baseball, dance, etc. Mine are on their own now thank goodness.

If you count both my car and DH's car( he drives about 45 minutes each way to work), we are without a doubt, spending more on gas now than on groceries.

DH dose the driving. we have a saturn stick shift. it's great on gas mileage. his brother has a gas guzzler so he uses our car for work. this keeps us from going all over the place in the car and because he is using it to it cuts down on our gas bill. every other week we spend about 50 and the next he spends about 50. i remember when it was 20. so that helps a lot. thanks to my stock pile i built up i only shop sales and then plain around that so i spend about 200 a month. so thanks to the gas split its not costing as much. i feel bad for thoughts of you that spend so much. I'm trying my hardest to avoid it.

I am very thankful that my firm pays for a great deal of my gas bill. I work from home three days a week -- and write off many other trips that I take for work. (When I go to Costco its only because I am buying stuff for work anyway!! Now DH is a different story!! He drives a truck that costs over $65 a week to fill up!!

We still spend way more on groceries though.

I am jealous of everyone's gas prices. We are at $4.20 most places (some a lot higher) and no sign of coming down. I work at home, though, and DH drives a company car and gets a gas card, so we don't have to pay for it. But I combine trips, make only one trip when I can and have already figured that during the summer, all our fun trips will be combined with errands, whether the kids like it or not!

Because I do have control over how much I drive, my gas bill is not exceeding my groceries, but dang, have groceries gone up too! We eat fairly cheaply, but I can't believe how much I spent on groceries!

Nothing shocks me anymore. With gas at $4.25/gallon all around me, gas is definitely costing us more than groceries. Dh drives 60+ miles/day for work, so we don't have a choice. (schools gets out this week, so we get a break in the summer, yay!) At least I can keep myself on a $30/week gas budget and $80/week food budget. I used to not budget my gas, but now that I do, I find myself really thinking before I drive and having dh stop to pick up milk on the way home instead of doing a quick trip to the store. It's really not that bad.
