Do you or did you ever give up on trying something frugal because it was not worth it? What was it and do you want to try it again- or never again?

For me it is making my own bread- I just can't do it and it is one of the "easiest" things to do- yet I just can't do it!

I just started making my own bread- I would love to stick with it! but honestly I only make it like 2 times a month and it has to be either hotdog rolls or hamburger rolls- cause the boys arent fond of the "loaf" LOL but the rolls? they love !
It is an easy frugal thing - but i can understand how you say it is hard to keep up with-
maybe try doing it only once a months?
coming home from work and getting it done on the weekends is alot of work

A lot of the things I've done have simply become too time consuming as my family gets older and busier (clipping EVERY coupon in the paper, making every meal from scratch, etc). What's great about frugality is once you learn the ropes, you can pick and choose which things fit your own lifestyle. Since we're busier, we also have less time to shop, which has actually ended up saving money because we're not as tempted to buy stuff we don't need.

Coupons for me, not worth it. I canceled all my newspaper subscriptions and quit using coupons. The stacks of unread newspapers waiting to be recycled drove me nuts, and the types of things that have coupons, I rarely buy. Changing to buying only what I need, and using store brands proved more economical than buying something I normally would not, just because I had a coupon.

I try to buy all of our clothes used--from the thrift store, garage sales or hand me downs from friends. There are times, when I just don't have the patience to wait and see if I can find it somewhere else and I just go ahead and buy brand new.

I don't buy the paper for coupons anymore either. I still coupon, just order them from a coupon clipping service so I get the coupons I want on the products I need. I'd rather spend the $2.00 I used to pay for a Sunday Paper on 40 coupons for chicken.

When we lived in GA I used to take advantage of the CVS ECB's. I tried doing the Walgreen's Register Rewards when we first moved here, not realizing the RR's were manufacturers coupons which expired 2 weeks after you received them. We live 35 miles from the nearest Walgreen's (no CVS). It's just not worth it to chase the RR deals because by the time I figure in the miles driven and gas used I lose money.

well i have a few i have quit doing
1.coupons not worth my time or energy and we buy alot of generics
2. making my own baby wipes drove me nuts
3.garage saling and thrift store shopping(i still hit the goodwill on occasion) i can find my kids new clothes on sale at old navy kohls ect. like all the t-shirts i bought for this summer were right around $3 bucks a piece for name brand and new.

this allows me to focus on other things that are more worth my time and save me more.

Mine is Keva Juice or Jamba Juice. It would be much more frugal to not buy one of the drinks, but I just love them so much. I figure that I go into town (40 minute drive) so infrequently, that it is okay.
