okay i am seriosly a tv addict. We are now going to switch over to atenna based tv so we no longer pay direct tv.

I have already order my converter coupons.

The only channel that is fuzzy sometimes is fox where american idol comes on. And football in the fall.

But that is the only show i watch on that channel. so no more tlc with jon and kate gosselin, no more top chef on bravo, no more food network, no more tvland with i love lucy.

But on the positive side we are saving 70 each month on tv.
plus we are going to get netflix for $13 a month to supplement the channels as the springs shows are coming to a close.

So dh just has to finish running the cable and all to the other tv and off we go.

Good luck with that! I admit it would be one of the last things I could give up, unless I really had to!

I have basic cable. I don't know what I'd do without it I will admit. Im sure it'll take a little bit to get used to, but it isn't impossible

We just dropped our DirecTV to the family basic package. We lost the channels you mentioned. For 2 weeks I would flip over to TLC (the channel I watched the most) only to be reminded we no longer have that channel. DH and I are both crying about our lost channels. The kids actually get more channels to watch.

We would have went to an atenna only we live in a valley and would not get anything. It's amazing what we get done now that we can't watch our favorite shows. We are saving $24 a month.

We dropped tv completely (we can't get anything with an antenna). We were spending about $60 a month on Dish, and switched it off and got basic DSL instead for $14 a month. My advice would be - you would be surprised at how many shows you can find and watch online for free. It takes a little bit of looking around, but I don't ever plan on getting Dish or Cable ever again. It's also amazing how much more you will get done!

you can do it we did it for about 8 months we just read more books got free movies at the library and started playing more board games with the kids wich we still do even though we have satelite tv now.. its doable just give yourself some time.. if i absolutely could not afford it i would get rid of it.

I can't talk my DH into getting rid of cable, so I'm really jealous!!

I was also going to suggest looking for shows online. My kids and DH watch alot that way!

How will that work when all the tvs are supposed to be switched over to digital by Feb 17? Can you still get basic tv on the antenna??

Good luck.
I'm not a TV person, so I really don't know if I'd miss it. I do, however, look forward to those two precious blocks of time when the Wiggles and the Doodlebops air on the Disney Channel.
